  • I am working (slowly) on this mod getting to work with 1.52 in such a way that it doesn't over-write the many advances in 1.52.

I have an interim basic level of it done, if you all want it- no documentation, but it's very much the same at the moment..

Here it is, it should work. A few minor things that take a long time to do aren't quite done, so I'll not post it to the main page first post.

Oh, I'm calling it "New Balance" for now.

EDIT: Front page version is updated and complete.

        • A few additions to the mod. Have playtested it a few times through to the end. Seems to work well.

v1.1 posted in first post now.

          • Potential bug found

After spawning close to the French AND gaining early access to horses, I was (playing as Elizabeth) able to quickly conquer the French with chariots. After consolidating them into my empire, I continued to expand south though jungle. I set my workers to construct trade routes while I managed my settlers and I found the ai was able to go straight through the jungles, despite the lack of steam power. Best techs I currently have are Iron Working and Monarchy, I'm wondering if the AI civs can pull off something similar.

            • Iron working allows roads in them.

What does "go straight through the jungles" mean? I didn't restrict movement through them in this mod. that is the same.

              • Ah, ok then. My mistake.

                • This mod is a good one, thanks!

I just wondered if it were somehow possible to combine it with such other mods that offer more civs, e.g. Superciv?

                  • Probably with a lot of your own xml editing.

Not something I'm planning to do, as there are plenty of enemy AI civs for now IMO.

                    • Forgive my lousey noob question that I'm sure can be answered somewhere already in this thread, or with common sense.

Can I run this mod for the World 1000AD scenario?
                      Re-elect Bush!

                      • I don't honestly know. I know that I've loaded scenarios while running this mod, but you have to remember it changes htigns from dates, to technologies. For exmaple the 1000AD scenario might start with a date of 500 or something and you may have different techs...

I say just try it. You will blaze the trail for others.

                        • "UNIVERSAL SUFFRAGE: +25 war weariness."

I loke you mod, except for this. I do not belive universal sufferage alone causes war wariness. We got through World Wars I and II without having to swich to a police state. I believe a war wariness penalty belongs on free speech. Remove this, and put a +50% war wariness on free speech.

And one final thing, removing jungles at bionigy seems WAY too long. It should be MUCH earlier. (But not as early as Iron Working)

                          Besides these, everything seems fine.

                          • I will think baout it- I'm sort of waiting for the next patch before I make any more changes as whenever it is patched I have to redo the whole damned thing.

                            • Well, I updated the MOD to work with PATCH v1.61.

This MOD is updated now to work with the latest patch v1.61.

                              Extends EPIC games too.

                              Enjoy.

I've not tested it as thoroughly as I like (VERY BUSY LATELY), but report any bugs you find or things I say I did that turned out to not be in the mod and post here. But make sure you're correct, because I don't have a lot of time to investigate things.

                              • The screen with the quote that usually appears after discovering a tech is missing. Just the "what do you want to discover next" dialogue pops up. It works fine without the mod enabled.
Does anyone else have this problem?
EDIT: I have completely reinstalled Civ 4, installed the patch and then installed the mod. Still the same problem...
