Read the article before posting. It's not a Mod, it's built from the ground-up using the base Civ4 engine (which to remind you is GameBryo).

    Quote from article:
Conceived from the ground up to take advantage of the Civilization IV engine, Colonization will be available fall 2008 exclusively for Games for Windows®.

Why did you just quote exactly what I said whilst telling me to read the article?

Just what do you think taking a game engine and modifying it or a new title is?

I do admit, it looks a lot like civ 4 just with more flexible borders and no limits on city placement.
Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.

What does the power icon in the Dutch city on the screenshot mean? Is Ben playing with kites again?

So that makes 99% of all computer games mods according to you. Because sure as hell development companies don't re-invent the engine every time. I'm sure you don't believe development studios don't use their own code over and over for other projects.

Not unless we see another expanison.

I think a stand alone expansion is brilliant idea. If this one prooves to be a succes, they should make another.

Then have a warlords scale XP for Civ4 that would use up some of the pretty and usefull stuff in the two stand alones while improving upon/fixing espionage, space victory, UN/AP, state property and a slightly better modern/future era. That way civ 4 would be complete and we could look forward to civ 5 in late 2009, early 2010

The civ4 engine has a lot of life left in it. And Civ4 is far from a spent game, its in many respects similar to Civ2, Civ5 will be a let down unless enough time passes for new ideas to emerge and for alternative games like Civ:Rev run their course to test new possiblites.

I'm intrigued, it looks cool. Though at the moment I will admit it does like a little bit too much like the type of mod you would find in a standard Civ 4 expansion; instead of a full game in and of itself.

Though it is of course hard to tell at the moment based off just a press release and a handful of screenshots. I hope we will be seeing some kind of preview soon.

I never played the original Colonization, makes me want to track down a copy.
