Thumbs up Seriously Tricky Sticky Game

Well --- this one might not be winnable

All Ais have been augmented to have two pairs of settlers to start and are all allied with each other.

    Rules:

    Reputation must remain Spotless throughout

Win by conquest - the bloodlust flag has NOT been set - the AI can build a spaceship

Only one change of government allowed and that is Despotism to Democracy

We set this up via a scenario so the tech tree is open

Oh - its a Giga map 180x180, small land mass, archipelago

Having set this up - we would rather not start so the post is the 4000BC start - please post that you have picked it up and run with it guys

    Good Luck

The SGs - feeling sadistic and masochistic also well sloshed

Would you be so good as to post which actions will maintain a spotless rep?

    e.g.

    - stealing tech, yes/no?
    - cancelling alliance, yes/no?
    - taking cash to join a war, yes/no?

I wouldn't want to accidentally spoil a spotless rep, were I to join...

Keep signing up and we'll publish a play order shortly

    Reputation Hits:

    1) Cancel an alliance or steal from an ally.
    2) Breaking a peace treaty or stealing tech when at peace.
    3) Breaking a cease fire agreement. I think you are OK stealing science during a cease fire … can somebody confirm this one?
    4) Spy with a nuke in her knickers … does this count as a hit even if at war?

    No Reputation Hits:

    1) Bribing a city and paying double.
    2) Stealing/Capturing/Bribing from a Civ you've never met or with whom you have no agreement.

considering there have been a whole succession of Sticky Mouse Succession games, and the quote listed above, I'd venture that this is a succession thread.

I'm sure no one would mind though if you played it on your own as a comparison game

Well, noob or not ... I would venture to say the first 15 turns will probably be the easiest! From where I'm sitting the game will get hard when we get close to the city limit for first unhappiness in Despotism. And on a gigamap, we're not likely to encounter anyone soon

That said, those first few cities probably should be placed pretty carefully... they may be all we can manage for a while. And the tech path will probably look different, without the usual beeline for Monarchy.

Refresh my memory: celebration under Despotism collects resources as Monarchy, right? Happiness techs will be at a premium.

Yes, celebrating cities basically don't have the -1's on all workers producing >2 of anything. And I would venture trade is going to be huge in the early game (pre democracy) as well (currency is a happiness tech too )

Obiwan18 Go get 'em! We were all n00bs once

STYOM The science goals are slightly different. Lean and mean research to Democracy is probably the best route - avoiding the techs off the Demo path.

SCG Trade will be important throughout the game. The good thing is that Trade is a requirement for Demo.

Straybow Have included you! Any decent Democracy needs a canal specialist

Yeah beeline for demo, and on the way we'll pick up most of the techs we need early anyway. We can trade for pottery maybe.......otherwise we'll have to step off the path, because HG is going to be even more useful than usual in this game.

Early triremes might also be necessary with this map setting.

Every happy wonder we can get our hands on, I'm thinking. HG for sure - we ought to be able to get that, because we won't be feeling the no monarchy pinch really early on. Mikes if we can get it, of course.

GL... mmm, I don't think so. Our research costs will go through the roof if GL gives us unwanted techs.

MPE would help - find out where to trade, and hopefully pick up a few useful techs on the way to Democracy.

MPE and happy wonders... those are my choices. I'm sure there will be some Lighthouse proponents as well.

    SG(2) - 12 Turns
    Hydey - 12 Turns
    DrSpike - 12 Turns
    Straybow - 12 Turns
    -Jrabbit - 12 Turns

    There are 10 of us!

After Obiwan18 and La Fayette have started the ball rolling (in the early years you often have little to do) with 15 turns each I suggest the rest of us play 12 during the first round.
