    He nominated three liberals to the supreme court. For all the liberal hate, he sure screwed us over.

          It seems to me that his reputation as evil incarnate is vastly overstated.

            Evil incarnate? I wouldn't go that far. A man who abused his position and went too far is more accurate. He was one of the worst Presidents of the 20th century, who only had a few redeeming aspects (like the opening of China and the Clean air act).

            BTW, more credit goes to Edmund Muskie as far as the Clean Air Act.

              I would argue that he isn't noticeably worse than Bush (2), Reagan or Clinton (1). And much much better than Trump.

                Hmm they all died before the turn of the century. Hard to think why anyone now would hate him based on that.
                I think he has many other claims to fame.
                It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple
