almost all mainstream western politicians have similar views on economic issues, i.e. they all believe in private property, capitalism and the 'free market'; even nominally social democratic or even socialist governments in europe have been privatising state assets in recent years. almost all also support some very authoritarian policies such as: mass incarceration, mass surveillance, the war on drugs etc.
