Considering there is no shortage of businesses anymore which are more than happy to serve gay customers, there also no reason we should give a **** if one or two of them turn away revenue.

This is heresy, Reg! Don't you know that life for gay people today is no different than it was under Jim Crow!

Please do stop bleating on about this- the bill for compensation to the Roman Catholic Church or its agents (the French state, the Habsburgs, the Spanish state etc) will be infinitesimally larger than any commpensation due the descendants of Roman Catholics residing in the British Isles or forced abroad. Planning on saving your pennies for compensation payments to Huguenots, South American natives, African slaves, Hindus or Jews and Moriscoes to name but a few ?

Had you a firmer and less bigoted grasp of history, then you'd know this.

The exception could actually be defined quite narrowly, come to think of it: if a religious owner doesn't want to perform services that explicitly affirm homosexuality, fine. Otherwise, he's gotta do it. So, don't want to make Tom and Fred's anniversary cake, that's fine; don't want to make a "Congratulations on your promotion, Tom" cake, they can take you to court. Ought to be fairly straightforward in practice.

Yeah, Yeah. And if you believe the curse of Ham delegates black people to slavery then it is okay to discriminate against them too...but only "quite narrowly"

Elok, you just don't get it.

I just don't get the hoopla over a bakery refusing your service. Is there literally only one in the area?

Hey Plato, I asked you a question - do you believe that Christianity teaches that homosexuality is a sin?

I find this "reverse discrimination" bull**** to be utterly preposterous. People get fired for being gay. People get kicked out of uni for being gay.

Being made to perform your chosen job like you would any other customer?

OH MY GOD THATS SO HORRIBEL ITS NAZISM

Anyone who looks at this issue in this manner is a completely ****ing moronic toolbag who deserves to be ignored.

Since when does the government have this power in a private business?

                      "made" is the wrong word

Nobody is being made to do anything.

Discrimination laws exist. Maybe you should do some research... if you are concerned about who/what/when/where/why/how about the US government, the constitution, and how things work.

Though, I'm not sure if you are properly equipped to benefit from such research. I would equate your knowledge of US government to someone around... grade 8 or 9. Early high school... at best. And not even an A student, more like a C- student.

Absolutely. They reduce unemployment. Employers are more likely to hire people if they know that if things go wrong they can fire them and hire someone else. Less risk to the employer than in states which don't have it.

Also, Unions sucketh mightily. Closed shops are retarded.

Indeed, and one of the things they protect is religion. A Christian has every right to practice his faith and keep his job.

The 14th amendment makes no mention of homosexuality as a protected class. It seems a stretch that 19th century America would have intended it to be used to shut down school prayer and fire Christians for talking about the bible.

                              Thanks.

You have no objection to people being fired for not fulfilling their duties.

So you're saying the government can fire private business owners?
