Please do stop bleating on about this- the bill for compensation to the Roman Catholic Church or its agents (the French state, the Habsburgs, the Spanish state etc) will be infinitesimally larger than any commpensation due the descendants of Roman Catholics residing in the British Isles or forced abroad. The exception could actually be defined quite narrowly, come to think of it: if a religious owner doesn't want to perform services that explicitly affirm homosexuality, fine. Otherwise, he's gotta do it. So, don't want to make Tom and Fred's anniversary cake, that's fine; don't want to make a "Congratulations on your promotion, Tom" cake, they can take you to court. Ought to be fairly straightforward in practice.

Absolutely. They reduce unemployment. Employers are more likely to hire people if they know that if things go wrong they can fire them and hire someone else. Less risk to the employer than in states which don't have it.

The 14th amendment makes no mention of homosexuality as a protected class. It seems a stretch that 19th century America would have intended it to be used to shut down school prayer and fire Christians for talking about the bible.
