You are effectively historically illiterate. You really have no clue.
How you find yourself in a position to educate children would be a mystery, were it not that you are employed by a religious orginization.

Yep, Galton was very influential.![]()

Let's face it, not even the public schools in Texas would take him. I feel sorry for the children though the parents had to have realized what they were getting into from the beginning.

Baron O RIP.

You lower the exponent by one, but you also multiply the coefficient by the previous exponent. So 4x^3 becomes 12x^2, and BK's generic cx^2 becomes 2cx.

I teach history not biology. The only book that Darwin did that's even remotely in my purview is the Descent of Man - which Galton, frankly did a better job of promoting than Darwin himself. So, by covering Galton, I cover Darwin and his ideas concerning how they affected society. You are effectively historically illiterate.
If I want to know how natural selection influenced the scientific world - I go to Darwin. If I want to cover the social darwinism I cover the father of that particular movement - Galton.
Oh, really. Well, seeing as you had to google Galton before you even knew who he was, I rest my case. You really have no clue.
Yes, it's almost like it's a synergy. Odd that I would want to teach in a place that believes what I believe. How you find yourself in a position to educate children would be a mystery, were it not that you are employed by a religious orginization.

The question was: "explain Malthus", not "take the correct general derivative." Malthus does not treat the coefficients as significant to his argument. You lower the exponent by one, but you also multiply the coefficient by the previous exponent. So 4x^3 becomes 12x^2, and BK's generic cx^2 becomes 2cx.

Uh, yeah, Texas public schools require me to have certification that I don't at present have. I haven't even applied to the public schools yet. But if it makes you feel better, you can believe whatever you want to believe.Let's face it, not even the public schools in Texas would take him. As for the kids, you can ask them if you like. They enjoyed my class.
I'm not getting paid to teach what the public schools teach. I'm getting paid to teach what the parents want to see taught. If they want a copy of the public school curriculum - they would take their children to a public school.
Also, I teach Mexican kids too, so no, you don't care.

For the second equation, not the first. Then f'(x)=0, not a.The first is not zero because he argues that there is an increase, but that the rate of the increase is a constant. The second he argues is not a constant but increases as a multiple of x. He never specifies what that multiple should be.

Your two equations are not consistently laid out, BK. Either include the coefficients or don't. I'm sure that in all likelihood you made a simple typo by not writing 2cx, but for ****'s sake, just admit it. It's really not a big deal, and it's okay to make mistakes.
Edit: I mean ****, I made a typo by saying f'(x) = 0 and not 1 (according to your logic). I made a mistake. Then I corrected it. No biggie.

I didn't think it merited 'you don't know how to do general derivatives'. Had you said - you made a small mistake, I would have happily corrected it.It's really not a big deal, and it's okay to make mistakes.

Okay, how about the mistake of asserting that Malthusian population growth is quadratic rather than exponential?
