    At this point we know both which slots our factions will occupy and we have our ini file with those factions set.

    We could also edit in e.g. notepad the ini file, but just starting a nes smax game and selectiong factions there for each slot is easier if we do not remember factions txt file names, they need to exact there.

    We are ready to start generating the actual scenario.

    Important!!!
    At this point the data in faction files and alphax.txt that will be permanently saved in save files, should be correct - the way we want. Like faction bonuses, pre-defined units, etc.

    I opened smax and chose:

    Scenario >> Load map

    I loaded veterans_04 map, the one with rainy tiles manipulated.

    The scenario has factions just declared in the slots, but no units yet.
    I attach the "starting" scenario file.

    From now on, we pretty much can continue the way Googlie described in SMAC Academy article on scenario generation. The different thing I do is, that I do not advance it to 2101.

    I leave the scanorio in 2100, then when starting a multiplayer in 2100, CMN can set the passwords for the players playing the game from 2100 to 2101. The benefit is that University does not select its free tech between 2100 and 2101. It does it 2101-2102, so CMN does not have to do it when setting up passwords. Univ player can do it himself/herself.

    We can go through this later. It's late night here, I have to take some sleep. we can contiune tomorrow. There is still few settings good to have...

    Hi,

    How do i place the factions with their units on the map editor? How do I assign them the a given player?

    Also, how can i change the tiles (place forest, water etc.)?

    I found how to place units. But how can you set human players on a map edited on single player? No editor is allowed in multi...

    I think there has been a misunderstanding of some sort. I'm still willing to play and I thought that the setup was not mine to act upon.

    After a MSN conversation with Eldramatico we sorted this out all right. So I'm back on track and we expect the reply from Uselesses before we start the setup over again.

    It was a wonder to me as well cose i have few games with Bodissey (PBEM) and his turn rate is good.

    Ask Uselesses if he still want's to be a part of this. If not i will take his place. I really want to play this game. Had some problemes but i over that and now that you have not started i want to play it.

    Is it 2 col pods and 2 scouts per faction?

    I have given all the factions one former, following Florin's advice. The game is underway if everyone agrees to that.

    A slight problem occurred as the date seems to be 2101 instead of 2100 but everything seems fine otherwise.

    The passwords remain to be entered by each player.

    I guess we should begin a thread.
