Yeah, I tested that as well as it errors out whether I make a change or not. Are there any logs or error messages I can provide that might be more helpful?

There are a session log for each tool session, that is deleted upon normal shutdown. It is named snumber.log in the C3MT directory. Also the actual save that yo work with might come in handy. As well as any error message displayed at the time of crash.

Here's the log file and saved game attached... hope you're able to get something out of them!

The only error messages I get are:

a reference to language files using version 3 instead of 1 or 2 (this is when the editor loads), and

I get a popup that says:

    Missing String (POPUPMESSAGES:56)

    after I load my game.

Thanks again for any help you can give!

Soundls like you are having an incorrect c3mt.txt file. make sure you replace the one in the program folder with the one in the zip, and also verify that you have language English (default) selected

    - Updated aboutbox link to the Apolyton thread, to link to the latest thread
    - Added extra step to UCW to fit more options related to C3C support
    - Fixed missing stealth attack special unit action (and flag offste errors on higher flags)
    - UCW: Updated to correctly change UNITIDs for stealth targets, enslave results and telepads while inserting units in the list
    - Updated BIC organizer to handle units with telepads correctly
    - Corrected bug with Telepad support for units that caused BIC corruption.

    - SGE: Map export now sets the filetype header correctly
    - SGE: Bug that made the tool try to set the selected city to the barbarians when updating fields (for example after a mapimport) corrected

I did some tests, and I figured that the TechTree Builder looks really bad unless you use Large Fonts (120 dpi) I'll see if I can fix this quickly, or if I have to wait until the next release.

Just so you know, upgrading to 1.09 fixed all the popup message errors but the editor still quits when I try to save the game.

I just had time to look at your logfile. Will look at the save before doing version 1.10. Is it similar for other saves too?

    Well, this is really interesting!

I still can't resave any of the saved games from the 2nd campaign (Rise of Rome). However I picked a random save from the first campaign (Mesopotamia) and was able to save it just fine! I attached the original save that worked, the save that was created when I just resaved it, and another save after boosting my gold way up. Hopefully these help!

I think there's a good chance of that. I started playing scenario 3 (Fall of Rome) and that appears to have the same problem, possibly because of the locked alliance between Western and Eastern Rome. When I get to another scenario that doesn't have a locked alliance I'll have to let you know...

Good work Gramphos! The Tech Tree Editor came JUST in time for me!

A few slight problems: it does not show the full screen on my PC. (using 1024x768x32bit). Just the top of Monarchy is showing. I noticed you posted "Added 50% scalemodel prototype. Currently assigned to double click." Double click where? It will still work and save me TONS of time

It does NOT load the background in the same 'tree' as the file loaded. This would be helpful to ensure the 'connectors' are set up right.

Also, how do I move from the Ancient Era?

    Thanx Again!

double click anywher in the techtree background to change the scalemode.

I'm not sure if there still are any problems with small fonts, but they are believed to be fiexed. (however, I'm using large font settings, and since the computer has to restart if you change it I didn't test it the last thing I did)

As going to another era there shall be a button inn the bottom of the window when you see it all. (there seems to still be some bugs with the scaling model I'll try to see if I can sort it out)

Regarding the background it is loaded from the Scenario search folders as the game does it. I think it searches in the order

    Conquests\*EachSearchFolder*\Art\advisor\
    Conquests\Conquests\*FileName*\Art\advisor\
    Conquests\Scenarios\*FileName*\Art\advisor\
    CIV3PTW\*EachSearchFolder*\Art\advisor\
    CIV3PTW\Scenarios\*FileName*\Art\advisor\
    Conquests\Art\advisor\
    Civ3PTW\Art\advisor\
    Art\advisor\

Does the screen take your full windows? And does it take full width?

I tried doubling clicking all over the place, still no change.
It does NOT take up my entire screen, no matter what resolution setting I tried. I will try to reset to large fonts, then get back to you.

OK, changed to Large fonts, got almost all of the screen. Then set my display from 1024x768 to 1152x864. I have the whole thing now. This works fine fo rme, I don't mind switching back and forth on screen settings.
    Thanx for the app!

(I am guessing it is written in VB? I am a VB developer myself, if I can be of help...)

I don't get it. This code shall make the size the same independent of the fontsize setting.
    Code:
        Me.width = 1024 * (1 / iScaleFactor) * Screen.TwipsPerPixelX
        Me.height = Me.height + (768 * (1 / iScaleFactor) - Me.ScaleHeight) * Screen.TwipsPerPixelY
And double clicking on the form does change iScaleFactor form 1 to 2 or 2 to 1.

The thing you describe sounds mush like the erron in 1.09

Yes, it says 1.091. (BTW, you auto update works fine, because the first time I opened it, it asked for an update.)

What OS are you using, and since you are a VB developer, can you test the size code posted with iScaleFactor set to 1 and see if it resizes correctly. I still don't understand why it isn't working.

Currently using Win ME. Don't have VB at home, I'll have to see what I can do later. The Code LOOKS ok, and it re-scales fine when I am in the large screen mode- it shrinks when I double click. Coudl be a 'fluke' with Win ME.

damn, i just lost my post before ;(

don't know if this is a bug, but for the tech beaker estimater i got a few wierd numbers just in a certain area:

on a small map --> tech multiplier 200 --> ancient age multiplier 100:

    literature 116 (should be 100)
    currency 186 (should be 160)
    republic 326 (should be 280)
    monarchy 279 (should be 240)
    monotheism 479 (should be 720)
    feudalism 373 (should be 640)
    engineering 419 (should be 720)

    all others seemed correct.

however, maybe i'm false with what i expect as the beaker calculator.

strange thing: all "wrong" ones have the factor of 0.58 or the double of it for medieval techs (1.16)

IIRC I didn't know of a way to konw if a civ was destroyed while making that calculation function, so it might show longer times than the actual times if civs has been killed.

no civ had been destroyed until then and all other techs were calculated properly (ancient techs: 10* editor value, other techs 20*)

and about a dead civ: can't you check if each civ (except barbarians) has at least 1 city or 1 settler (or a "build-city"-capable unit)? or is that insufficient?

Actually a civ being dead is somewhat different. I think I know how to find it but I've not tested it. I know how I can check what civs still are in the histograph.

    I'll check the code.

I've used your tool, with minimum difficulties with Civ3 and PTW. This is my first attempt at C3C. And, it's not looking too good.

At first I was editing the save to get what I wanted. Then after so many crashes I decided to try and figure out what specific edit may be causing the problem. But, it crashes even when I don't change a thing. Here's what I do to get the crash:

I load this save into the save game editor and then, without editing anyting, I save it with a differnet name. When I try to load it in the game I get the following errors as the game is loading up the save and is at the 38% point:

    DataIO operation System Error: UNIT

    DataIO operation System Error: IDLS

Here's the file that your tool created. I had to zip it because it was 10 times the size of a normal save file.
