I was just thinking about the attributes, but the geography and culture would be good to know also.

If as the Incas, the Mayas will usually be next door, I'd need to know the differences in play style.

yeah it does look like Civ3 +PTW has better civs then RON, but that does not worry me that much. I still think RON will be better. Besides they can add them latter as an expansion pack.

RoN doesn't have to do much to be better than Civ3. Civ2:ToT is better than Civ 3.

You know, I never really liked the 'cultural linked starts' of Civ 3.

You start off next to a Civ that is supposed to be somewhat amiable to your Civ; but before you know it, you at at WAR with them! You are more than likely to go to war with your neighbor (expecially up to and including the middle ages) than anyone else, including those Civ's which are supposed to have disdain for your culture.

I hope RON doesn't do the same thing; fighting the same 'ol wars against the same 'ol Civ's.

I know you can turn it off in Civ 3 (I do!), I hope if it IS included with RON, that there too, will be an option to turn it off.

It's a shame they didn'n included Arabs, one of the most mighty civilizations in history.

Arabs, Indians, Persians, Vikings, and Americans have been repeatedly requested by fans. It would be hard to believe BHG hasn't noticed...

Here's what Graham Somers (BHG's Community Relations Manager) had to say about India:

Thunder, 24 Oct 02, RoN Heaven
You better add India to the list of civilizations on the list...I can't tell you how many times people have mentioned, asked about, or demanded that we include that civ. Why aren't they in the game? Mainly, their distinctive architecture would have required another unique set of buildings to be created. Originally we were supposed to have 16 nations and we've stretched that a bit as it is. Perhaps down the road...

I have to third that, after researching for the HG:Nation of the Week article. I have to say the Nubian culture almost mirrors that of Egypt, and somewhat redundant if you want a diversity of gameplay.

I personally would have like to have seen them use Pheonician/Carthage for a 3rd african civ, which they could kind work into Morroco for the later ages. It would be geographically diversified too. North West Africa vs North East for egypt, central/south for Bantu.

On the other hand, if they have an expack, Nubia could be an additional civ that can get elephants as a unit
                Are you down with ODV?

Is there a preference that the player starts next to a nation from the same geographical region?

Does anyone know how dipllomacy is implemented, because I can't recall any other RTS game with decent diplomacy and I think that will be the biggest diff. between CivIII and RoN.

Guys, if you see missing civs, they might have been left out on purpose for an ex-pack. You can't balanced 26 civs in one try here, they want to get this game done by the release date so they had to stick with 18 (which is a LOT for an RTS game IMHO) and i'm guessing they will add 90% of the civs being requested in an ex-pack.

But to add a civ you also need UNIQUE atributes remember. You can't just add every civ in history if some would basically have the same advantages. You want to give each a unique feel, which probably would mean certain civs don't get in because they arn't unique enough.
