Online players and ease of finding games

Well I'm still always out there looking for slow games. I've found a few other people that like to play on slow, but not many. Unfortunately I can't host because I'm behind a NAT Router.

I've had problems with Gamespy in the past Carch

Is it possible the problems were related to the standalone version of Gamespy staying in the background?

In games with built-in gamespy support, gamespy is used ONLY for matchmaking and record keeping. It is completely inactive during the game, and it will have zero impact on connectivity or gameplay.
