  • Patch it soon!

With the scathing reviews coming each day, it is becoming harder and harder to remain positive about the game. I've stopped playing for a bit because it has seemed little more than star exploration so far with little military action. My attempts at multiplayer have not worked because I keep getting an unexplained "Version Mismatch" error!

I realize a patch doesn't happen overnight. But please fix the game soon so we can enjoy Mo03 and stop griping over what went wrong!

The longer it takes for a patch, the more believable the critics are going to be....and I hate being proven wrong! I want to like it...I'm almost there....just please make t hose needed AI/military/diplomacy/multiplayer tweaks that will have me playing Mo03 until there is Mo04 (or MoM2)!

    screw the critics!

    This is MOO!!!!!

It can only get better and if people cant be patient and stop crying like little girls fighting over a barbie doll during recess---well---screw them too.

Some people dont understand how long and how much effort has to go into making and testing a patch, getting the OK from their superiors, and finally putting it on a web page to DL. I am sure they are working their butts off--OR-- taking a week or two well deserved break before continueing. In either case if people would just shut the hell up and let them do their work and stop crying about the same things over and over--it would be better for everyone.

Not directed at you but the impatient people out there.

Between the promises and the history, people expected a lot, and didn't get it. They have every right to complain.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

I don't expect to see a patch until it addresses all the major criticisms players have levelled at the game (manual, encyclopedia, diplomacy, AI aggression) and does so pretty well. QS have already stated their aim is to get the first patch right.

For those people who want fast and dirty patching to imporve their playing experience immediately there are a wealth of user mods.

I agree with The Mad Monk,

People endured several release date delays encouraged by QSs' promises that the game would deliver bug free. While the game did load up relatively bug free it is the opinion of many that something just wasn't there with this game.

Hopefully things will iron themselves out, meanwhile bravo to those who enjoy the game for you are truely Moo fans. To those who are not happy with this game (myself included) it is a bitter lesson that from now on game companies cannot be trusted and that shopping for computer games now must be done with great care and patience.

Hi I read yesterday that if you have downloaded the extra flags & the computer you are trying to connect to did not, then you will get the above error .

Any mod will give the above error...

Turn 370... this is getting rediculous and extremely tedious...

You should be able to get an X win by turn 300 if you want it. I don't think I'll ever complete a 'sole survivor' game because eradicating the last 200 planets when I already own 400 is just too tedious in this or any other game.

Whats funny is that this is exactly what a lot of people asked them to do. Many people wanted even bigger universes than moo2. They got them.

I'm on turn 400 and I just got my first X. I've been researching it for twenty turns, which seems excessive for the amount of research I produce. I'll probably be able to win Sole Survivor before I get all the X's.

Don't get me wrong, I love the big universes. The macromanagement means you can concentrate on your primary 5, 10 or 20 worlds (your preference) and let the rest run itself. I'd still like a "we surrender to the warlord of Orion" win when you are obviously the most powerful player no matter how large or small the playing field is. The masochists can reject their surrender and go on to squash every last one if they want to, but with no highscore table its pretty pointless to do so.

Its a matter of industrial capacity and war status. It becomes possible to send out unlimited numbers of X expeditions as soon as your economy can cope. By turn 250 I can normally cheerfully send packs of my older ships out to search with a few custom built recon ships with research labs to lead the way.

I usually have at least three or four expeditions dispatched before the first one succeeds or dies. The fiddly bit is ensuring that you have the right balance of ships in your reserves so that the automatic selector is likely to pick 3 or so of your specialist recon ships and a mix of other stuff.

The time it takes to research a returned X is a bit random. I don't think it has much to do with research capacity at all. More likely a window for other races to attempt to sabotage your research (assuming the capture of X's held by other players works as implied.)

                              Official QS Patch Information:

Yes, work is in progress on a patch. We have no delivery date at this time.

We are concentrating on the Military AI (offensive, defensive and build queue) and point defense problems, along with some UI glitches and any crash or easy to fix bugs. Changes which require any artwork are extremely unlikely for this patch.

The plan is to release a data-only patch fairly quickly which should help with some of the Military AI problems (and other things) and may also contain some additional documentation on use of the spreadsheets to help the modders.

This will be followed by a code patch. Code changes will be listed here as they are verified internally, so that you know what is coming.

The actual release of the patches will be controlled by the QA departments at Infogrames (for Windows) and Destineer (for Macintosh).

We are happy to hear constructive feedback from fans regarding bugs of design issues and have been listening to feedback from a number of fans, both off and on the boards.
