civ3: Game of the Year Edition

How can this be? How in the wide, wide, world of sports can civ3 be a "Game of the Year?".

You can see this on the back cover of the MoO3 manual.

Also, the manual is only fair to middlin'. Anyone else notice the name of the game on the spine on the booklet is slightly off? I mean, who looks at these things before they go gold and into production? I'm talking about quality control and pride of accomplishment.

In many ways we see these things in the game, thankfully. I have no complaints so far, except the opening movie runs choppy.

IG has created "game of the year" editions for several of it's games....

beyond that, civ3 has won a couple of "game of the year" awards
