  • MOO3 vs GalCiv

What are the big difference between them?
I get the idea that GC will be more story/RP like, but i also remember something about your Council-members having their own history, influencing their actions...so, where are the differences from a gameplay perspective?

I'll probably end up getting both MOO3 and GC if/when they are available in europe, but some more info is always better
<Kassiopeia> you don't keep the virgins in your lair at a sodomising distance from your beasts or male prisoners. If you devirginised them yourself, though, that's another story. If they devirginised each other, then, I hope you had that webcam running.

The difference is Moo3 is coming out and Galciv may or may not be a pipe dream.

I should wonder how a game is called a beta version when it does not have many of the key parts in it? Would that be a aplha or prototype? I mean beta is a completed application that is being QA tested?

Do you also know some gameplay differences?

This is not a discussion about the meaning of "beta".

Funny. Here I was about to post this very same thing the other way around...

Lemmy, GalCiv has an active backstory, yes. There are other differences as well, but mainly these two offerings overlap. Did you ever play the original GalCiv on OS/2?

Nope, never played the original GalCiv, or any of the MOO's.

That's also why i'm looking forward to these new games, since both originals were highly praised by gamers and gamesites.

Lemmy no I do not know any difference as Moo3 has not put out a demo and Galciv is way too far away from being evaluated. I expect both to be good games though.

Galciv is ugly. I need some graphics to play a game cant handle old graphics like that. Civ3 is okay for me and its not all that graphic but animations and map are nice.

This game looks terrible. There using sprites and combat is ala Civ3 like it looks. I rather shy from that I like the MOO3 being voxel and having large battles.

The interface and map for Galciv is ugly as well. I like MOO3 more technical look. Not a game for me thats for sure.

Then again, GalCiv will allow higher resolutions then 800x600.

Oh, I think they're both ugly. But that doesn't deter me in the slightest.

Although it might well cost them sales.

MOO3 seems much more coherent/simulation. It seems GalCiv is more gamish. Where MOO3 builds races that could really exist, GalCiv is in some sort of archetypes, the big bad guy with etc. And it seems to be like this here and there from what I've seen. Doesn't mean it wont be a fun game for many and wont innovate though! They do have a beta, but you have to buy the game in advance to get in it, so we don't have alot info.

                        We'll see...... we'll see.......
Go GalCiv, go! Go Society, go!

I would think GalCiv has at least as much sim in it as MOO3, but maybe on a different level.
IIRC when you colonize/discover a planet you may have to deal with any primitive native inhabitants, enslave them, give 'm their own space, or just leave the planet alone.

I will take a close look at GalCiv, IF it comes out, but I suspect that it will be hard pressed to be out before this time next year.

It' s coming out in February or March...i think they are on schedule. And it is coming out (unlike Stars! Supernova )

Both games are different...i think we'll see a lot of events in GalCiv. Also you can decide to become good or evil....that could be funny
