I just downloaded it and installed it and it ran fine. Well I only went so far as to get up the menu that lets me change tech or races.

At what point did it fail? Did setup run ok? Did you see the popup for the directory? The CD?

      Frustrating!

Hmm It say it needs to back up files but announces the error before it starts to.

I am on XP PRO and it worked just fine, there are three files it wants to mess with. I did not note their names, but maybe a reinstall will clear it up.

IIRC you need to be on 1.31 to insure it works, so if you have a different patch, reinstall or patch.

          Eureka!

Hmm it may be the game files at fault as all the editors I have are fine but I think that some game files may have been tampered at some time (nothing major though, plus Version 1.31 is sorta glitchy on XP,heck you have to use the right click for help to use the TaxScreen because the mouse will move with the help POP-UP on).

Say that part about the Tax rate again in details for me please.
The one thing I cannot get the cursor to do is change the tax rate.

So you are saying that you have a way to get it to function? This is not a big problem for me as it is not something I need real bad.

              Alrighty!

It's simple, you know the right-click help inquiry (How you get help info on chosen text items), well do that on Tax screen (remember to right-click) then position cursor over area of tax bar you want to choose (10/20/30% whatever floats your boat) then hit Enter to close help pop-up, then do it again to position cursor over close button ( the help pop-up's close button is roughly in the same spot as the Tax screen close button so this should be easy) and yiola, new tax setting is input!

I see, not to bad. I also just found that holding one of the arrow keys down lets me position the cursor beter.

I use XP, and I have no problems. I guess XP is like that.

Yup, I had it on two systems with no issue and bam. Soem other games no longer even run. It could be hardware though.
