What, you haven't heard about the super-secret government spyware that has your computer take DNA samples and listen in on all your conversations in order to determine whether you might now or at some point in the future be a double-parker?
If I'd known then what I know now, I'd never have done all the stuff that led me to what I know now...

You have no idea how close to the truth you are (and you didn't hear that from me).

                Hey!

Check out one of my postings from around the June timeframe. When I was attempting to find the cause of the crash bug in the original version, I found a number of graphics settings that caused the mouse cursor to become useless shortly after startup. The solution (which I still run to date) is to save the music onto the hard drive.

You may ask yourself "What the heck does saving the music off to the hard drive have to do with the freekin mouse cursor?". Turns out the problem with the crashing and other assorted malaise seems to stem from the CD protection scheme implemented by Infogrames (nee Atari). When you switch between screens, it checks to see if CD 2 is in the drive. Unfortunately, the CD is already being accessed by the routine responsible for playing the background music. On an OS that have been tailored for playing multimedia applications from CD, this seems not to be a problem; but on systems tailored for data caching (read-ahead) it's fatal. That's why this is a programming no-no spelled out in first year programming class. Saving the music onto your hard drive avoids this potential conflict.

Thank Kahn, I think there are mult cause of my mouse problen I was playing the muise off of my hard drive so maybe the adware and spyware from the mouse company play apart in it.

Anyway, is that a Microsoft or Logitech mouse? Heard of Logitech compatibility issues in the past.

I got the mouse 2 or 3 month ago when the problen started. The anti-spy program I have deactivate the two spyware or adv ware programs in a seperate folder. Have no problem since ecpect when I have some iolate mouse freeze up like after playing agame for 3 or 4 hours straight without saveing.

Before the mouse would freeze up in the open moive when you run MOO3, or in the first turn of than MOO3 game.

Thanks to the advice of Stormhound, I also put my music on the Hard Drive, as the game had frozen up on me. Now this solved some problems but recently I was unable to exit the game normally but had to pretend I wanted a new game to get out of the old!

My confidence in this game is badly shaken and I just dont know if I can ever hazard playing it again. Pity, because I do think that conceptually it has the makings of a great game. If only Infogrames were supporting it in the way that Stardock is supporting 'Galactic Civilisations'!

If Infogrames had any sense, they would re-hire guys like Stormhound to put things right!

                              Live long and prosper.

I appreciate the sentiment, but I couldn't program in C++ to save my soul from eternal damnation, and that's what the game needs now.

And I don't think I'd want to re-"marry" my "ex", though it doesn't matter because they'll never ask.
