Yes... your shoot them all and sort out the innocent later approach certainly has it's advantages.

Heh, most people who played MOO1 thought the same of MOO2 as you apparently do of MOO3, especially the "can't believe what they did to the franchise" bit.

      Need I go on?
Nah, your bias shows since you more than likely never played MOO1 so don't know what a really Macro game is and can't appreciate how MOO3 tried to bridge the gap between 1 and 2.

That's the point - can this be fixed with patches? I think it probably can, but others may disagree. This is certainly the shoddiest game I have seen in a very long time.
Shoddiest? How about Pool of Radience, Battlecruiser 3000, Diakatiana (sp?), etc? I have seen MUCH worse games on the market.

And there are plenty of games (most in fact) which give an enjoyable experience straight out of the box. MoO3 doesn't.
Again, expectations vary, because I think MOO3 does give a fun experience, but then I liked Civ3 originally as well.

I do hope that QS takes th time to polish the game as much as Firaxis did with Civ3 because then the game will go from good/fun to exceptional/fantastic.

They brought out an incomplete game that even if patched will in no way meet the expectations of many many fans of the previous MoO games. Many people (like me) bought it without reading through forums or testing it because they didn't think anyone would dare to screw up a Master of Orion game so badly. And because of the long wait I am sure there were tons of preorders. Those people did get ripped off.
Hrm, where have I heard that "in no way met the expectations" bit before?? I know, when all the folks here on Apoly *****ed about Civ3!

And assuming you are an american, there are other parts of the world too, and imported games cannot be returned in most cases. So we were screwed, and have every damn right to express out discomfort with what they did to the poor MoO franchise.
Bzzzttt. Sorry, wrong! nless someone held a weapon to yuor head and threatned you with great bodily harm, no one FORCED you to buy the game. There are a lot of people who waited for the reviews and general comments before plunking their money down, so if you DIDN't wait, and feel cheated you have only yourself to blame for not waiting, unless someone 'forced' you to buy the game.

If you like the game, thats good for you. But most people don't, and the fact that the few who do always act like they are the majority and have the morale high ground is what is truly annoying.
Gee, there goes that generic "most people" comment that people like to throw around to try to prove they have some kind of moral point. Do you have figures? Facts? Anything to correspond with the number of actual sales of the game vs. the amount of refunds or returns overall? Otherwise all you're trying to do is use general, generic terms to bolster your personal argument to appear to have the moral high ground. Unfortunately for you, some people know better than to believe general, generic terms.

Ironic that you're the one talking about "moral high ground" and then you try to use shady logic to give yourself that same high ground!

Its quite sad that someone would take the time to troll a near-dead forum. Don't you have some place better to troll? Some place more active where you could start a worth while flame war?

First... What does Civ3 have to do with MoO3? Even if there was the same disappointment about it when it came out (I wasn't surfing forums much back then so I wouldnt know), that doesn't make MoO3 any less disappointing...

Secondly... Using an established franchise and a long time of waiting and longing to sell something of low quality to people that don't bother to investigate it closely before buying (mind you, one good thing MoO3 did was teach me to never buy a game again unless I played the warez version first) is ripping them off imo. Of course some will always say its the peoples fault. If someone sells you fake game chips in front of a Las Vegas casino its your fault too for buying them. But you still get ripped off.

And lastly to comment on the 'most people' thing... Out of roughly 30 people I know personally or from my other online games who also played MoO3, two of them liked it, the rest hated it. Of course those people might be the only ones in all the world hating it, but from the negative comments about MoO3 I see everywhere, I am getting the strong impression that this is not the case.

I admit that it is kinda subjective, but you will understand that I have a hard time believing that the people that actually like the game are anything but a stalwart minority when everything I see and hear points that out.

Check your attitude, or you'll be taking some time away from here. No further discussion of that point is invited.

How can a company rip you off--they didnt force you to buy this game. And you could have returned it.
Most industries have objective press coverage and some constraints on marketing hype. The gaming business is based on a largely captive press (how much prerelease "access" to info do you think you get from pissing off Infogrames or EA? ) and extremely subjective marketing. It's not fraud, it's just so loose that game quality and performance can't be determined until you try for yourself.

I don't know where you bought yours, but in the guise of anti-piracy measures, most publishers require most retailers (and the retailers are happy to oblige) to have no refund, exchange only for same product policies once you've opened the CD cover. So if you install the game and don't like it, TFB, the publisher got your money, and that's all that counts.

People rather cry about the game than to admit they have lack of skill. I have never had trouble taking out planets even with smaller force than his.
                      Agreed.

but is acting like a 3 yr old and crying about it really worth your time? LOL.

                      need a diaper change?
If/when people are whining excessively, that's my concern, not yours. You apparently felt it was worth your time to put in your two cents, they can too, within limits.

Apparently you have a hard time with reading comprehension. Take the next week off and see if you can figure it out. Normally I'd only give you a couple of days, but this forum is dead enough that only a couple of days without trolling won't make a difference.

Since you're an old person, perhaps you've seen Cool Hand Luke? If you decide to get your mind right, you can PM me.
