How will GalCiv react to the Moo3 delays?

That GalCiv is single player only is one thing that makes me want to buy it right now, the other is the strength of conviction shown by the open beta - compare that to Moo3 where they won't even release a demo.

I have recently had a tremendous MP experience with NWN, having found a good server with serious, dedicated role players and a good DM, but while RPGs always were about social interaction first and foremost, I very much prefer my 4x gameplay to be against the comp.

Bring on a solid AI. Nobody demands the impossible, but surely it's possible to do better than the abysmal standard that has prevailed in that area so far.
"The number of political murders was a little under one million (800,000 - 900,000)." - chegitz guevara on the history of the USSR.
"I think the real figures probably are about a million or less." - David Irving on the number of Holocaust victims.

I'm rooting for GalCiv because it's the underdog and because I like to troll.

Indeed. Unfortunately however, previous releases in the genre have generally promised good AI's to go up against. If Galciv does deliver it may indeed be the first but they will have a fair bit of scepticism to overcome too.
I wonder if they'll let the beta's of the final version give their impressions, good and bad, (ie: without invoking NDA's or anysuch) once its gone gold...

          idea

Draginol, did you ever considered an arrangement with the MOO3 team?

1- Like the possibility to buy a pack with both games. More could be bought on the end, the total revenue of you both companies could be higher since less people would buy one only.

2- Something about the release date maybe also, but this may demand come good will from Infogrames, I dunno.

Is any of this viable in commercial ethics and pragmatism?
Go GalCiv, go! Go Society, go!

Ideally some arrangement could be made so that both games come out at different times.

We'll just have to wait and see, what Stardock does now. My money is on a postponement.

Which doesn't matter diddley for me, as I have the beta

Yeah, Brad, inquiring minds want to know. Now that Moo3 is finally gold, it would seem as a safe bet to push back GalCiv a couple of weeks. I'd wish it was the other way around, myself, but I'm happy you've got something to deal with anyway now.

How about March 25th? Enough time for the dust to settle, for another few weeks wages to come in, and still about a month before Rise of Nations is released.

With regards to the AI, beta testers aren't under NDA.

The AI continues to improve each build. But that said, I think most beta testers would consider the GalCiv AI to be pretty good even as is.

The quality of the AI almost has the MOO1 'edge' comparatively speaking. A few tweaks here and there and this thing will be positively vicious.....especially because of the radical power of cultural influence in this game.........this time culture warfare is done right......
