Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
Demo is indicative, but not the speed part. It's been improved. And will be even more in a week or so.

I just attacked China, I successfully took a port and Beijing (orwhatever) but then it crashed on me. First crash.
I wasn't very efficient though, as I had left it on a fast setting... I will need to slow down and maybe rearrange things a bit more.
I will definitely need to rearrange things period, as my navies aren't good.
My navies will consist of:
Sub Packs (2-6 Subs)
Transports (2-5 trans + 2-6 screens + 1-2 light capitals for a total of <= 10)
Screens (2-6 screens + 0-2 light capitals)
Carrier Groups (2 carriers + 2-6 screens + 0-4 light capitals <= 10)
Capital Groups (2-4 capitals + 0-2 light capitals + 2-6 screens <= 10)
My thinking is:
Screens = Light Cruisers + Destroyers
Light Capitals = Heavy Cruisers + Escort Carriers
Capitals = Battlecruisers + Battleships
Carriers = Carriers
I don't want any more than 10 ships in a fleet and no more than 4 CAGs in a fleet.
I have heard that the stacking penalty for navy and air is huge.

I suck. Very Easy, controlling all of Continental Europe, Barbarossa going fairly well so far. The US came into the war, and in no time my maritime relative superiority is done for and Brittanny is taken by Eisenhower.

This "stacking penalty" that you speak of, just curious, is the penalty for upkeep?
Happiness suffering?
I was wondering why.
Thanks
Sounds very interesting, may need to add this to my future collection i shall obtain.
One other thing, HOI, must you order the disc online or do some stores (USA) carry it?
I usually buy from Gamestop or Best Buy, best gaming location, in that order, available in Jacksonville North carolina.

Nikolai, help an older dude our Brother
What do you think happened?
In CEAW, it may have been caused by a more advanced military

Stacking penalty = too many troops means too little space.
You can get it over disc in the US with no problems, also Gamestop and Bestbuy. Or Steam, GamersGate, Direct2Drive, Impulsedriven and so on, if you like it on net.

Easy, I have an advanced, but small army. Also, I built lots of ships and neglected build up. Such an build up would have had to be motorized of some kind btw, Germany's manpower is small. And I already have a very motorized army composition, with lots of panzers and stuff. Lastly, the bug making half the world go Allied, even when as me being cautious, make poor me being more easily overwhelmed.

The USSR implodes in every game because there is a bug which requires it to spend all of its IC on consumer goods. I simply cannot for the life of me figure out how something so fundamental didn't get caught in the beta testing stage so the only conclusion I can make is that they did not beta test. They simply released the game as a beta and expect people to pay to beta.
If I buy it then I will definitely wait until after it has been patched and fixed to a level I find acceptable. 1.1c doesn't seem to help much in the speed department and because there is a memory leak in the game you have to shut down and restart every year or so or else the game slows to a total crawl.
The CG bug is fixed. I'm currently more curious how my ally Romania got 70% of the SU in my current game, as they surrendered to them and not to me after Barbarossa. Romania currently stretches from its heartlands to the Pacific. Doubt that'll last long.

The speed issue is not as bad as you claim btw, not in 1.1c at least. It's a little slow, but not that bad in my game right now, in the end of 1940 with a 1936 start. Faster than when you start in 1.0.

It's still bad. I have a 2.66 core duo with 4gb of ram and a 512 mb graphics card and it's still about half the speed of HOI2. What's worse is the memory leak still means every year or so you have to save and restart but more then half the time the save is corrupted so you can't continue the game.
Right now the game is in pretty crap shape even though 1.1c has made it at least playable which it wasn't at release. Now they need to actual balance the thing because it was the worst attempt to pass of a beta as a final release I have ever seen. I mean a WW2 game where the USSr was unplayable and Finland always joins the Allies? Yes, they'll likely slowly make the game breaking bugs go away but I'm betting we'll have to wait for an expansion for the polishing and balance issues. The same was true for Rome & EU3 while they never fixed Diplomacy. PI has really gone down hill since EU2 and I no longer buy their new releases preferring to wait until at least the first expansion comes out because anything before that tends to be a lash.
