I've seen this advertised in some of the banners here, is it really some sort of civ?

I was just about to point out that Horsie is simply making excuses in advance for why he will suck at Civ III...

I played it for about fifteen minutes. If you've played any other browser strategy games (OGame, Ikariam, Travian), it's a lot like those. If you get into it, they can be quite addictive.
    John Brown did nothing wrong.

OK, I've been playing it for a while now, and it's pretty OK.

They've now changed the name to EVONY, for some reason.

you can build up a city and eventually attack and be attacked by other players, but you have 7 days grace period to start, in which you can't attack cities or be attacked.

you get a daily spin for goodies, and you can spend real money buying goodies to help you out... or not.

fair graphics, no sound. all in the browser.

I've been reading around, I've never heard/seen/played Ikariam, but all players say Evony is far superior to it.

          So :P

              True.

I found a browser game called "Visual Utopia" by an accident while I was waiting for some turns of Call To Power (I only playing CTP by E-Mail) 1½ year back (the week between Xmas and NewYear and NOTHING happend, no turns no nothing )

And I'm still hocked on that game. Maybe because the era's never is alike. This time (era) fx., it's really expensive to keep an army. The admin always find new things to test - and sometimes he even listen to the players suggestions.
