Spike, I can make it clear to you, because I think I understand conmcb.

In this world, there are people who don't actually want to play games, they really want to be where the game takes them.

For example, imagine it is the year 2500, you're flying in your personal spaceship, transporting some cargo of porn across the galaxy. It takes time to dock, knowing this, you would have some sort of TV installed in your cockpit for those long waits.

For some people, BEING immersed IS the fun part.

As for me, I don't watch TV at all. So I quickly got bored with EVE. I just don't have the patience.

Technically it's possible to play EVE for no real money cost, because EVE is one of the few games that has a legitimate method of selling game currency. Last time I looked the exchange rate was around 550 million ISK for a 60 day game time card, so if you're making money in game you can exchange that for subscription time.
Age and treachery will defeat youth and skill every time.

Thank you - I now understand where Con is coming from.

Shame on you Con, with your intergalactic porn empire.

HAHA ! That´s me, reading a book, while my sub is approaching the convoy 10 miles away, cathing up with 1.5 knots - in real time... (Silent Hunter)

EDIT: It´s one thing btw, if something takes a couple of minutes (say >5), and you actually get the opportunity to focus on something else in the meantime (in game - reading stats or such, or outside - reading a book maybe). It´s a totally different thing, tho, if you have to repeat stuff like every 90 seconds or so (mining in Eve), which allows you to focus on nothing in the meantime really - except TV, and i dont watch TV (when alone). I used to watch TV, while playing until a couple of years ago, but i am totally glad, i laid that off, and today i get very annoyed and distracted, when a friend has it running during a Civ-session. It wears me out, overstresses me - and i ´think´ (nobody takes this as an offense, please), that it is bad for your mental health (e.g. attention span), as well. TV seems like a cursed box to me, sometimes (and i am not even talking about the content) - i steals my attention in no time, and keeps a hold of a good deal of it, as long as it keeps babbling - i am almost unable to have a decent conversation in a room, where a TV is on. You get an idea, of how bad it is for you, when you realize, that you tend to prioritize your attention on an babbling image on a screen over a real person being face-to-face with you, or at least find it hard not to. I once had a girlfriend, to whom i could sometimes only talk during commercial breaks. That may sound a lot funnier than it actually is.

                        Wormholes

The new expansion was released today, my guys have found two wormholes thus far in the 0.0 constellation we hang out in.

They are trying to get a group together to explore one.

More to come later if I can be arsed to post about it.

                          Cool - it'll be like DS9...

...which of course you can watch whilst playing.

Only an idiot would watch TV while in wormhole space.

But then again I seriously wonder why I bother posting about it. The average moron at this site can't come close to appreciating EVE.

How did they do? We have been hitting them hard all week, and have found the need for fairly specialized fits. Not quite a classic PvP fit but certainly not a PvE fit either. And groups, and bonus's are basically "needed" for any of the harder encounters. T2 fittings, battleships, Command Ships, and Faction BS and Mauraders.
