Well, the rules don't seem to indicate anything about a max. number of caravans, paid for or free. But tech level of the owner seems a reasonable limit for the number of free caravans, if we are to implement one.

00 cara = 00 gold. This is broken... In fact it is an instant win because you can spend trade gold the turn you get it. So you can get all the worders, 00 nukes and kill everything.

The example seems to indicate that max caravans= tech limit. As for being a game breaker, it ends at tech 10. I agree that getting a payout before the build phase is a little odd, tho. It should come with taxation.

We'll just have to write that max caravan=max tech level. It make sense. I'll add it to the rules later.

And the payout before the build phase hasn't broken the game in the past. It adds an interesting level of strategy. Spaced Cowboy had it last game and Sparrowhawk was the eventual winner, for example.

Well... MJW I looked at my inbox and saw 6 new messages and thought everyone had submitted in record time. I almost wrote that, too. Then I discovered 5 were from MJW ... making a total of no less than 9 from MJW this round.

The breakdown and order of builds in phase 3 indicates that you can build after research.

Theben, yes, both parties receive cash.

Send your orders please without worrying this but- There is a rule issue here worthy of discussion... Both receive cash at the beginning of the turn, so theoretically the other side can spend any cash that they gain from the trade on that same turn- how does everyone feel about that? I'll try to make a decision on it in a few hours. (I don't know why this question didn't come up in any previous games?)

And you can trade with anyone as per the range reqs.

I don't see how you can inform someone that they got caravan income w/o tipping off a player's orders.

It's be better, IMO, to move caravan income to the taxation phase.

I agree, the free trade is enough of a bonus.
