Bing (the guy who used to be a die hard DnD and Ravenloft fan) showed me the "GURPS Lite" pdf.

I have to say, I'm pretty impressed. He is working on a conversion for Ravenloft to GURPS and he may use the 3e Horror, Undead, and Ritual magic rules.

I like GURPS. It was designed for flexible play and verisimilitude, which you can then adjust how you like. Apparently there are no more arbitrary character classes. Everything is points buy, even character improvement.

One thing I didn't like about the UK Steve Jackson's "Dungeoneer" engine was that the major bad guys (like that wizard mastermind Xortan Throg and the priest Sargon) were impossible to replicate using the rules. DnD had a lesser problem (you could replicate them but the rules took some massaging). GURPS seems to side step that by making everything modular.

Me too. GW used to be the best games company in the world, before they became obsessed with selling miniatures. WFRP was the best pen and paper I ever played.

My Favourite 'chose your own adventure' type books:

Way of the tiger by mark smith and jamie thomson:

          My Favourite pnp rpg systems:

          1. Runequest(requires a very dedicated DM mind you) - has a great PC game version also(King of Dragon Pass)

          2. Traveller - if you like sci-fi and some great galaxy wide epic gaming.

          3. Call of Cuthulu - very detailed, very dickensian.

          My Favourite CRPG's:

          1. Alternate Reality(Atari 8bit version only) - info here on an old thread I did:

[the first two links are now dead, but the most important one to the 'atariage' forums is still good]

          2. Fallout 1+2 - I'm trying not to think about the upcoming one!

          3. Daggerfall+Morrowind

          4. Ultima series

          5. Baldur's Gate.

          My Favourite Steve jackson:

Even if you don't like GURPS, you have to admit that the supplements are very well done. And you can use them with any system you want.

Oh, very true. Great gaming resources. Not that I've actually played rpgs for 20 years.

Me neither. I've got no time to spare and they're a huge waste of time so... Maybe my DM wasn't very good, or the rules too crunchy (it was D&D), but it took like forever to achieve anything. When I need my RPG fix, I now rely on computer games. A poor substitute, I know...
