  • A new strategy game magazine

    Hello
I have the pleasure to confirm you that Cyberstratege, a french strategy games magazine, is now available in English. As it is not possible for us to print and distribute the mag, we have decided the propose a digital version. For a start, we present an issue #0, available at www.digitalnewsagent.com (direct link to the mag : http://www.digitalnewsagent.com/shop...?id=2354&bc=no), an English digital webstore.

Wa also have a free demo demo version. It includes the eight first pages of the magazine.
    The link : http://www.digitalnewsagent.com/clie...ssue0_Demo.exe

We will propose issue #1 in June, it will be a complete adaptation of the last French issue published and we will also release in the coming months some of our special issue, on Civilization IV and Heroes V for exemple. We will publish a new issue every two months.

the cover looks interesting, but to see the "demo"I need to run an executable, from folks whom I dont know. Non.

Why not just make the demo a PDF?

How can you transmit viruses via PDF?
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

Transmitting viruses is not really our business
This is not a good strategy when you try to sell digital magazines.

We know the .exe solution is far from perfect. The problem with PDF is that we cannot control how it spreads. The other commercial solution was to ask people to download a "reader" software to see the mag... what we thought is even more boring

We tried to find the most confortable solution amongst commercial offers. We are still working on it.

to avoid the mag to be copied on the web.

So you don't want people to read it?

I think they want to get paid for writting it
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

For people writing a strategy magazine, they sure don't seem to be able to comprehend some basics.

The "demo" is supposed to only be like 8-pages of the magazine, right? So, what is the objection to putting these 8-pages into a .pdf and letting it be freely distributed?

For that matter, how does making an .exe stop it from being copied and freely distributed?

So, I am left with the same conclusion as the others here. This is nothing more than a virus/trojan/worm/spyware trying to hide.

but its only the first 8 pages - the free sample to entice us to buy more. You WANT that to spread, I think, dont you?
