FWIW WoW is quite playable over 56k modem. Not really ideal, but still quite playable in most places (perhaps not very crowded places).

And with a 56k modem, it's the ping which makes it icky*, not the lack of bandwidth.

    * Ignoring the fact that WoW is intrinsically icky and you should go "ewwww", put it down, back away slowly then run away swiftly, never looking back. Except to remember how icky it is.

I played on a 56k modem when my broadband went down for a couple of days at the height of my WoW addiction.

It was playable but painful and you have to avoid populated areas. The things you do when you are addicted though.................

MMOs are bad for ya. quit while u can.

I reinstalled wow recently cause i was tempted to try it after months of quitting. Logged on my friends acct and queued for BG. And then immediately I was reminded why I uninstalled the game in the first place and wipe the evil game off my computer.

did the whole patching BS for no reason...... :-(
        :-p

Some service providers restrict bandwidth of torrents, which is how Blizz's service works. Back when I played, my school did that so I always had to just download the patches from an actual web site. It went a lot faster.
