Riesstiu, you seem like you know something about Half life 2. Can you explain to me why the game has so many arbitrary physics puzzles in an otherwise semi-believable environment? HERE PUT THE 2 CONVENIENTLY LOCATED CANS OF COMPRESSED AIR UNDERNEATH THIS BRIDGE AND YOUR AIRBOAT SHALL BE ABLE TO FLY TO THE NEXT PLATFORM. That was so preposterous and actually defied real physics and made me feel like a woman.
I take it that despite feeling like a woman, you did not obtain one?

Or my all time favorite: HERE IS A ****ING SEE-SAW, YES A SEE-SAW YOU HEARD ME RIGHT, PLEASE WEIGH DOWN ONE SIDE AND THEN DO A RUNNING JUMP ON THE SEE SAW TO GET TO THE PLATFORM NEARBY. OTHERWISE THERE IS LITERALLY NOWHERE IN THIS CITY FOR YOU TO GO, SORRY ABOUT THAT.
Its not an insult, my good man, its what's known as a "quibble".

Frenchie you are the one who posted the picture of a dork killing a space marine.
That "dork" killing a space marine is nerd rage turned into direct action. Your nerd rage is a basement dweller with an unhealthy infatuation with Dick Cheney smashing a keyboard. I'm not even sure what brought on your rant (which I didn't bother to read btw) since I haven't really contributed anything to this pointless debate since page 1.
I posted the picture in jest but I knew a few would take it seriously.

That's because there really is no debate. It was already won.

How exactly is Halo no linear? Its so linear, it goes over the same lines, over, and over again.

Half-Life 2 is more linear because you're in this wide open city, but you're always forced to take the same path to the level of absurdity. In Halo, the environments are big an open and you frequently can enter any door you want in a complex, not the one that you "need" to.

Eh, perhaps you were talking about the phyics ctitisism in the same paragraph as Wiglif's linear critisism, in which case I agree with you.

Hmmm...if I had to guess full 1/4 of Halo2 and 1/2 of Halo 3 is in a similar "wide open city" with just as many (even less IMO) options about where you can go.
Halo has some wide open spaces, but then HL2 has the boat and highway levels which are the equivalent mix of open space between required travel bottlenecks that every Halo wharthog sequence is.
Then there is the strider attack in HL:EP2 which is entirely open ended. The only thing any of the Halo games have to compare with that is the you versus 2 scarab fight in Halo3, and that was easy and lame.
