Asher, make a note here, Bungie can't pull off art like the vid below and the game Portal.
(I like stirring)
If Bungie made 3-hour games sans multiplayer, I'd be quite pissed -- "art" or not. Just how it is.

Their plan is to release "episodes" with progressive upgrades to the game (graphics, gameplay, etc), because they don't think its a good idea to release a new game every 4 years, which expotentially get bigger with each version.
It's a VERY smart idea and one I think will catch on in the future of gaming, especially PC gaming.

Long live the PC; rest in ****, consoles.
This isn't a new idea (what do you think HL2 EP1/EP2 are?).
It's also not limited to the PC. Look at Mass Effect's episodic content plan. Ditto for GTA4.

I can't say I own a 360 game with noticable framerate issues.
Which ones have you found with bad framerates? I find them way more consistent on the 360, than even on my PC with an 8800 Ultra.
Ok, I can now say that Bioshock on my 360 gets a bit rough at times. Major slowdowns when a big daddy (bouncer) and a splicer are in the same area. REally disappointing. I didn't dl the patch b/c of supposed frame issues.
I haven't noticed anything yet in Bioshock, yet I just started playing it again and I did get the patch...

Asher and Kuci, you are both classic nerds, unable to think outside the box; this is a problem because nerds are considered to be the most intelligent in society, but if they can't think outside the box how can they contribute anything new and exciting?
Please, maybe my post confused you, but since you actually believe I'm not aware when Episode 1 was in production, I really urge you to TRY harder to use the other side of the brain more.
asleepathewheel, I assume you're talking about addons? I don't count addons as episodes. An addon is like adding a new character to the same story as last week. A new episode is another story continuing from the previous story.

It's funny, because I think it's the opposite. You missed the big picture, back in 2004. You're still missing it now, apparently.
1) Episodic content is not new. Not even close.
2) It's also not exclusive to PCs.
This was the point. Episodic content has already been released for games. HL2: EP1 isn't "in development", it's been out for a while now. EP2 was just released. Similarly, Mass Effect has episodic content plans on the consoles -- as will GTA.
And the point asleep was trying to make -- I'll point out the irony here with your personal attack that you missed this as well -- is that EA releases minor changes every year (Madden 07, 08, etc). Episodic content. It was a joke. Don't worry, "nerds like you" can't think outside of the box and get such complicated humour.

Er, Mass effect and episode 2 are quite recent. It is not unreasonable to say episodic content is pretty new to PC games, and I can't think of more than one or two examples of it in 2004, 2005, or 2006. Can you?

Episode one?
Virtually every Turbine MMORPG ever made?
