Why isn't it? SP in Halo is the campaign. You can do this co-op or solo. MP is deathmatching.

Even then, I've played all the Halo through solo and still really, really enjoyed them. I couldn't even finish DOOM 3 and Half-Life 2 because they bored me to death, so there must be something there.

    • Heh. The day before Halo 3 releases, and the top couple stories are Wii related. A huge chunk of them are.

I think I see why I don't follow the site now. Why on earth would they be talking about Metroid and "Pollen Sonata" for Wii when Halo is around the corner?
Damn, Asher, you really are a dumbass fanboy. I mean, we knew you were, but you just seem to prove it more and more by the day

If you had actually read anything, the Metroid article is about buying an old customized NES, and the "Pollen Sonata" article is about it being cancelled. Heaven forbid people talk about something else other then teh Haloz!
I make movies. Come check 'em out.

Maybe, but for those of us that take balanced views I think it is very hard to deny there is a lot of hype that affects scores for any major franchise game such as this. The same will be true of Galaxy, next year's Zelda, MGS4, GT5 etc.

But I still like Halo, think Halo 3 will be great, and can't wait for Wednesday.

And honestly, that's all you really need. If you are happy with a game, then don't worry about everybody else. I think if more people remembered that, a good number of people would be a lot calmer in their daily lives

There's a disproportionate amount of Wii coverage on the site considering there's zero Wii news today, or yesterday, etc...

But I can see why you like it, if you really enjoy learning everything possible about the Wii. Myself, since I like games, I wanna hear about them more.

            • You're right, 3 out of 9 stories about the Wii is ridiculous. Not having a 95% 360 ratio on Halo day is insanity!

Doom 3 and HL2 aren't great. Halo is the same thing. There is nothing innovative...shoot shoot drive .. .shoot drive...

                  No, 4.

                  Wii: 4/9
                  360: 2/9

And one of the 360 posts starts with:
I have a confession to make: I'm not a huge Halo fan.

It's not like it's wrong for a site to have a bias, I just think this site does. I subscribe to about 12 games RSS feeds, I've never heard of this site before now, and it seems Nintendo-centric is all.

I agree that some sites do have a bias, I think you are making your decision here rather poorly. Yes, today does have several Wii stories, but by and large, I would call it a very well-balanced site. Instead of merely making a decision based on what your sample of 1 day shows you, try it over a couple of days and then see if you still feel that way. He did start his Halo article with that line, but his review was quite positive overall. They just happen to be one of those sites that actually grades things on a proper scale, instead of just making "big games" 10s right off the bat. I'm sure you'd be thrilled to know they only gave Twilight Princess for the Wii a 7.5

We've already got decent anecdotal evidence for that

                        1. Have you ever looked at the Qto3 site?

                        2. Wiki article on Perfect Dark indicates some features not included in Golden Eye. Is it possible someone might consider Perfect Dark, but not Golden Eye, to have shown consoles can match PC FPS games?

                        • Not sure I want to get involved, but

                          1) yeah I have looked at the site from time to time, but don't frequent it

                          2) It is possible though kind of odd (disclaimer: I can't really claim to know Perfect Dark that well though as it was released late in the N64s lifespan and I only played parts of it on a friend's machine) as although PD was arguably the better game overall it was clearly a refinement of earlier Goldeneye gameplay - kind of like Civ2 versus Civ.

GoldenEye was pretty much the big step forward for console FPS games (though the first FPS console game I actually liked was an Aliens game on the original PS a couple of years earlier). Having said that I don't think making such a slip necessarily invalidates a review of Halo 3.

Perfect Dark came out when the N64 was on the decline, and its framerate was HORRIBLE...especially for multiplayer.

Anyone who mentions that Perfect Dark was "the" first FPS on the console to open up to the masses is completely ignorant of the subject matter. Which isn't surprising considering the review came straight out of his ass (notice how he included precisely zero screenshots as well -- he didn't have a reviewers console, nor a reviewer edition, nor a copy of Halo 3 )

                            BTW:

Goldeneye 007: 8 million copies sold
Perfect Dark: 2.5 million copies sold

Halo: Combat Evolved: 5 million copies sold
Halo 2: 9.2 million copies sold

                              • I find it ironic that you Asher consider yourself a "gamer" as you put it, when you seem to love the console more then the PC for games.

Don't you know the console is just a dumbed down PC to milk more money from those who don't know any better?

You need a tight slap man. And here's my slap: You started this thread claiming Halo 3 to be the biggest gaming event in history, using an IGN screenshot to prove it; yet your feelings towards IGN are contradicting.

Sounds like the little excited fanboy inside you got the better of you this time.
