  • How does a hojillion compare to a bazillion, or to a metric assload?
Age and treachery will defeat youth and skill every time.

Where is the Kotaku review (and WTF is Destructoid?)

      doesn't show a score?

So what are we going to do when games even better than those come out? Turn it up to 11?
        You just make 10 louder.

        • 10 doesn't mean perfection, at least in most review.

Halo 3 Limited Edition Marred by Disc Scratches?

...The limited edition version of the game ($69.99) comes packaged in a special tin case. Unfortunately, the plastic nub affixed to the tin to hold the disc in place does not provide suitable grip and the disc tends to come loose during shipping, or just from being tossed around.

GameDaily BIZ received its own limited edition copy of Halo 3 on Saturday and we can confirm that both the main game disc and the bonus disc were loose in the tin and covered in tiny scratches. While both discs do boot up and the game seems to play normally, it's entirely possible that one of the scratches could cause music to skip or the game to freeze at a later point while we're attempting to finish the fight.

            • Consider it a stupid tax

On the other hand, considering no consumers have it in their hands yet, it MAY be a bit premature to start fearmongering.

              Your damage control is noted.

              • Regarding the halo debate I missed earlier: Halo does deserve its place as a top FPS series. The first game was innovative with it's level design, cool weapons and vehicles, and enemies with decent AI. Aslo it's a rare game that can appeal to hardcore gamers and the casual crowd, because it just has that innate sense of fun'ness that all great games have.

Ok the sequel was overhyped and the SP game wasn't as good, but its a great MP experience that still regularly tops the XBL charts (ahead of Rainbow Six, Gears etc).

FWIW I have some sympathy with the view that Halo3 is being similarly overhyped. The scores do seem high in relation to the reviews, but it's hard to really judge at this stage. Overall I am pretty confident it's going to be a solid SP game that I can play through and enjoy at least a couple of times, and a MP mainstay for a while to come.

                Roll on Wednesday.

On the other hand, does the high standard of excellence in Halo games warrant more nitpicking? That's my interpretation, and that's why the scores are still high. When it comes down to it, it's a Halo game and it's damn fun, and scores accordingly.

Destructoid is a very good gaming site that you should read if you don't

The Kotaku score came from an addendum he had added since he hadn't given a numerical score in the review, and people complained That said, it seems to have vanished from the site now, whatever that means.
I make movies. Come check 'em out.

Admit it. SP Halo is mediocre. Weak story, uninteresting levels and level design. Just..admit it.

I've always found them immensely fun, especially co-op. Add in drinking games and the difficulty increases.

                          • SP is not co-op.

Any game is fun with drunk people.

Heh. The day before Halo 3 releases, and the top couple stories are Wii related. A huge chunk of them are.

I think I see why I don't follow the site now. Why on earth would they be talking about Metroid and "Pollen Sonata" for Wii when Halo is around the corner?

haha, no. I hope halo does well. If I had a 360, I'm sure I would be getting it tomorrow. Alas for having other financial priorities and justifications (read: wife, temporary unemployment due to a cross country move).
