I clicked to find out more about the author and he's a kid who just barely turned 20 and judging from his previous articles on Halo 3 hyping it up to be the penultimate game, I'd say he just let the hype get the better of him.

Its like 60-40 or so PC vs consoles. If that makes it dismissable to you, fine.
You decided to defend this with nonsense about industry professionals such as the famed STARSHIP TYCOON programmer posting there, like it makes a difference.
I did a quick search on the word "developer" and used that as a guide to pick out the profiles of a few folks. Thats all. No, I dont know who everyone is.
I still await hearing which "serious" gaming site you post at."A person cannot approach the divine by reaching beyond the human. To become human, is what this individual person, has been created for.” Martin Buber

Er, look at your thread title. Any time a game release becomes an "event," complete with $129 limited editions with useless helmets, hype is getting the better of most people."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

If you're still waiting, may I suggest you read."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Yeah, but some fans of Halo (he would be one of them, check out his two favourite games) set skyhigh expectations from months of hype then when the game doesn't look like a Pixar movie in realtime with the option of having 10 guns mounted at the same time, they cry about it.
Also IGN gave MOO3 a 9.5 or something. They are crap too.

Their readers are all buying Halo and paying a premium for the privilege of owning a super Halo box. Why do you expect an impartial review from them? Because they have 30 year old reviewers and not 20 year olds? If you ask me, I'd prefer a kid, not an overgrown kid.

Look at the metacritic/gamerankings scores. I think the overwhelming consensus that it is an excellent game. The only review I've seen to the contrary has every sign of being a fake review to generate publicity (and what better way to get publicity than to give the only bad review for a game?)"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. A year ago. And it was deserved.
We'll have a similar fuss in November with Mass Effect.
As I've said, the 360 is going to dominate the holiday season."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Rock Band I think will be a disappointment, that price tag is way way too high.

In terms of new games that will do very well:
October 2nd: PGR4
October 29th: Guitar Hero III
October 30th: Need for Speed ProStreet (especially in Europe)
October 30th: The Simpsons Game (the franchise will sell it, I don't have high hopes for the game)
October 30th: Virtua Fighter 5
November 5th: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
November 13th: Army of Two (maybe? It's EA, so it's iffy)
November 13th: Assassin's Creed
November 20th: Mass Effect
Then in January, Devil May Cry 4..."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Well, the two reviews I've read on sites that I tend to take seriously (Kotaku and Destructoid), gave it an 87 and an 85 respectively. Still perfectly good scores, and the game will still make a hojillion dollars
