Settlers of Cataan is available brick and mortar all over the place. You don't live in some backwater, I didn't think, do you? Any gaming store will have it. In Chicago, Gamer's Paradise is the best shot, but I don't know what you have in Virginia...

Gaming store? Since Wizards of the Coast closed, I havent been aware of any general gaming store, but I havent searched the web for one (irony?)

Settlers of Catan (just the one 'a' in the second syllable on my copy) is superb. I think there are a lot of quality German games out there now in fact.

What was so special about Civ 2? Howitzer spamming and lack of borders was a real drawback IMO.

I'd like to try EU2 sometime. Is it TBS?

Yes and no. It's realtime with a pause button. Or tbs where the turns go one day at a time constantly with a pause button.
