Well $40 just isn't worth it for an old mediocre game - you should pickup at least WC3 and the original Dawn of War (which I think you should be able to run) first. If it was £4 then possibly.

Okey doke. This is worth the $40.

The first and the Barbarossa one. Didn't know there were more, but if it's the same guys then I'm sure they are good too.

Hey folks tell me about the Total War series. It seems so hard to grasp.

I think you might like Crusader Kings. It's as much a roleplaying game as it is a strategy game. It's been a long time since I played, though. I don't know how the patches are doing. (it needed a bit of work still when I played it last, but that was 2+ years ago)

Not really. You build stuff like a traditional TBS and move units around. Then the turns are resolved in epic battles played out in real time.

Another game to look into is Europa 1400: The guild. A mix between roleplaying and buisness sim.

              ah well, thats done.

I was sent to Staples to pick up looseleaf paper for POTM, and I saw RON for $10, no xpack, so I bought it.

              More on this, anon.

                It's probably worth $10.

total war series can be pretty fun.

it would be especially good game for TBS players to get into RTS type games...
                    :-p

CK has some serious flaws, but it still a game which has given me great fun over countless hours. If you get it, make sure to install patch 1.05 before playing.
Yeah, with the most recent patch it is quite a decent game. Still some serious flaws but it is very different from most of what's out there and if you like Paradox games at all you'll have fun with it for a while.

Also its the only game in which I married a girl because she had no brothers so that my kids would be able to inheirit their maternal grandfather's land, had my mother in-law die, had my step-father marry a young girl and then have to resort to knifing my wife's half-brothers in order to keep my hands on the inheiritance. Great fun

Then there's the great new event series, where I screwed a peasant girl, had a bastard, choose not to give my bastard any good jobs, had him murder my trueborn son and then run off and join my enemy's court and give them some claims on my land.

If you like the RPing angle it can really be a lot of fun, despite the flaws.
