To steal a term coined by Kotaku, I put together the above charticle juxtaposing the first six month console sales of Wii, 360, PS3, PS2, Xbox, and GameCube. First, the Wii has sold better than the mighty PS2 after the first six months. Amazingly, both the PS3 and 360 sold worse than the GameCube for […]

That would appear to be showing the Wii winning the units battle, but nothing about finances or profit margins.

Excellent. Any other Wii games you think I should keep a look out for?

Do the DS, PSP, Gameboys qualify as 'consoles'? They are matched in price to traditional consoles, so I personally would say yes.

I and my girlfriend are looking to get a pair of DS, and I also want to get a Gamecube for the second time to catch up on some of the games I missed the first time around. The biggest reason for another Gcube, though? Twilight Princess.

Get a Wii. It plays Cube games and you'll get to play any Wii games that strike your fancy.

Yeah, I missed a few GC games I want to play and plan to get them on the Wii if I get one in the future.

If not then I'll probably pick up a GC - you can get them for like £10 on ebay.

                  DQIX says yes.

I walked into Circuit City this PM (for something else) and they had a big sign in front saying they had no Wiis. This despite what must be massive numbers of Wiis for sale on Ebay from disappointed purchasers. Showing that Wii buyers must be truely irrational, to buy new when used ones are a dime a dozen.

They are so stupid, that playing a couple of bad games on one platform will turn them off to electronic gaming in all its forms forever. Kind of the way millions of kids who grew up with Nintendo, or with portables, swore off electronic gaming.

I think a whole slew are going to be announced at E for Everyone next month, so I'd keep an eye on the coverage of that. Since I don't really know what kind of games you like, I can't really make any recommendations

They certainly sell enough to not be ignored, and some of the biggest-name games are now coming out for the portable systems (DQIX, various FF-stuff). I've got so many games for the DS right now that I have to figure out a better schedule to give them all equal time
I make movies. Come check 'em out.

You posted for a link after I posted this:
Nintendo consoles always sell well off the bat. The Gamecube outsold the Xbox 360 in its first year on the shelves, too. The Wii is just going to start even faster due to the novelty.

People who buy Fords, Chryslers, etc. are equally dumb.

There's 1,300 Wiis on eBay as I type this.

                          Nintendo's original games were fantastic.

You would be best to look into what's called the "video game crash" in the early 1980s, BTW...people are irrational and people are stupid. Especially in big groups.

Ok, so you are dodging posting to back up the financial stuff you pulled from nowhere.

I'll let you off now, but I'm still watching for these Asherisms.

A dime a dozen maybe, but last I looked demand seems to be high enough to keep the price of a used one at retail price or above. It's not irrational to buy new ones when they're as cheap or cheaper than used.

Just took a look and the price seems to have dropped slightly, but with high shipping & handling charges it looks to me like eBay is still at least $25-50 more than picking it up at a local store.
