I bet I have far fewer games than most folks here.
No really, you seem to up-to-date on just about any topic, and still playing all these games, I mean wtf !!!!

"Non mortem timemus, sed cogitationem mortis." - Seneca

I pay attention to what other people say, which lets me speak about issues regarding games I havent actually played, thought generally not with any particular insight

ok, this time i managed to cross the machine gun room fairly easily, and went into sector d, the admin area.
I did find a MG.
Generally feel more like Im getting the hang of it.
Including carefully micromanaging the health boxes, which feels kinda gamey, but i can live with it.
Still not sure of best uses for grenades.
I managed to get through the food storage area, and the nasty transporter.
Finally stuck again, in sector D, admin 3. This is the area where a guy in a suit shows up behind a locked door. Not sure how to get there. Theres an elevator shaft with ladders, but the button is broken, and theres no way to get to the ladders. If I go back, I find a passageway that leads to a room with a propeller, and a ladder up to the propeller. Not clear how to go anywhere from here. Over the prop theres a passage, but it doesnt seem to lead anywhere. There may be a passage if i can stop or break the propeller, but I cant seem to do that.
Im stuck.
BTW, it seems all the monsters can see in the dark? Or is it just the head crabs? Is there a reason to turn the flashlight off?

Dude, I'm probably the guy who has played the game most recently and I don't have clue what exactly you're talking about. Maybe post a screenie so I can visualise.
Can't even remember grenades, never mind whether they ever mattered. As I've said before there's too much choice in weapons types. That shotgun and the auto-rifle suffices, except when it comes to bosses.
There's no reason to turn the headlights off, except that they run out of energy (and that shouldn't happen before you got out of dark places).

The grenade launcher that's included with the auto-rifle is far more effective though. The only reason you wouldn't use that gun all the time is that you'd run out of ammo.

I'll try to do a screenie later. But its the area with lots of stairs. One stair has some kind machine gun thingie firing from the ceiling. Its past the food storage area.

Try using the grenades on the machine gun thingie.
Oh, I already got past that. Its amazing what simply running fast will achieve in this game. Maybe Ive been inspired by reading Steven Ambrose on D-Day. You dont have to take out every thing, if you can get past it.

I run all the time. If they follow me I just ambush them. It's amazing how effective it is, especially on human players. They're as braindead as the AI when it comes to this.
BTW, still can't visualise what level you are on, but have you tried jumping onto the ladders?
