Amen to that. BTW, to the GM: I think you should enforce the 24h rule, if not we'll probably wait forever. The experience is that someone always won't come and vote.......

                        • Nervously the cyclists gathered round and cast their votes. ‘It‘s Greg’ said Sylvère Maes. ‘Haven’t you noticed, he’s dead.’ ‘ That’s the second time you voted for someone dead already’. A couple of riders thought that suspicious behaviour and so voted Sylvère . ‘alright dammit’ (in Flemish). Others then voted for him and Miguel cast his deciding vote for Sylvère as well

At this moment Ming intervened. Sylvère Maes was secured onto the pedocycle. His hands were clasped together on the handlebars and fastened and his feet lashed to the pedals. It looked like he was praying on his bike. He was crowned with the 3D helmet.

‘You have a 1km start’ said Ming ‘ If I catch you before you reach the next village, you will receive a severe restriction’. If I don’t, well we’ll see.

Sylvère Maes couldn’t believe the situation he was in. If only he had paid more attention. Maybe I can beat Ming, he thought, so he rode like a bat out of hell. Pedalling furiously he kept glancing over his shoulder. No sign of Ming yet and he could just make out the next village/ town whatever, not far ahead. He was getting closer, he might do it. Looking back he now saw Ming approaching fast. Just another another 60 metres to go. Yes, Yes and Sylvère entered the town. He had done it, he had beaten Ming.

Seconds later Ming came alongside. ‘Well done, Welcome to Mingapulco’ ‘ I’ll be damned’ said Sylvère, in Flemish and he was.

                            • Stage 4 SMAC – . Worm Diet

Convinced they had got the killer, the Tour Director (after consultation with the riders) decided the race should continue. But first some lunch. There was a choice of juice, soup, loaves, and fishes, salad, tomatoes, trance tablets, fruit and spam.

The next stage was set to be very difficult. It would be a 154.6km run through the landscape of SMAC and take approximately 4 hr 50 minutes. It was designed on a small planet, mountainous, 60% ocean, abundant native life, setting, and with Unity pods. The riders dreaded the unity pods in case one of them popped a Volcano.

’Anyone want to role play with the SMAC factions?’, asked Tour Director. Some did, some didn’t. Sister Miriam was chosen by Miguel, Bjarne chose Deirdre Skye, Francisco, the pacekeeepers, Jacques picked Zakharov but there were no other takers.

Anyway the race carried on. As before, the riders entered their race plans into the 'Cycletron’ and donned the helmets.

First out of the blocks was Eddy Merckx. Ok, he had the Rainbow jersey but this would be a unique race to win. The gap between him and Jacques Anquetil was narrowing. Meanwhile, Francisco Cepeda easily slipstreamed the leaders. They were getting to know know each other’s patterns.

Joane Somarriba still felt more comfortable in the pack but she had lost some of her team in questionable circumstances (Uganda relations it was rumoured?). Francisco Cepeda just kept his head down and hoped nobody noticed. And they didn’t. Nor did they notice Louison Bobet, if he even started.

Bjarne Riis’s plan was to stay with the peloton, which he did quite well. However, Bernard Hinault had narrowed the gap to Eddy considerably and was close to taking the lead. Except that Miguel had that spot in mind. They all soon passed the Ruins and they all picked up an energy boost from the Uranium Flats.

Before reaching Googlie Mountain, Miguel started his inquistion role again. Eddy, do you seriously think you’ll win; where did you get that cycle, Francisco? In a recycling tank. Hey Bjarne are you a bike hugger. Jacques, are you an alien from a different Universe? Bernard retorted, ‘ Miguel , Remember me’ know my name?

Miguel was in the lead and about to commence a Darsnan King of the Hill challenge, when he rode over a pod. Ooops, Up sprang a demon mindworm which enveloped Miguel. In his haste to start the race Miguel had forgotten to take his trance pill. ‘Dios Mio’, He was consumed by self doubt. ‘To be or not to be’ that was now the question. And the answer was, not to be. Miguel had been wormed.

The Tour Director, immediately halted the race and noted timings and placings. How had this awful ‘accident’ happened.

Once again the shocked riders were asked to sort this out among themselves.
