I couldn't imagine playing HOI after playing HOI2. vastly improved game.
I dont have HOI1. I got HOI in the Paradox 6 pack, with EU2 and Vickie, and as long as I have it I will play it. I may skip a genaration in buying decisions, but once I have it, im still inclined to play in sequence.
Another game I still have plenty of gameplay on is Divided Ground, but I wasnt in the mood after the Lebanon war. (its an East Front/West Front/Rising Sun sequel set in the Mid East) I might get back to it\r though.
Oh, and I havent really finished messing with the demo of Tropico that came with it.
Id still like to get Pirates!. I saw GalCiv with its expack for $10. Is it not worth getting that, better to skip to Galciv2?

GalCiv 2 has better graphics and marginally improved AI and a shipbuilder. I wanted to like both games but they are fairly tedious. Do not measure up to Civ 4.
The hook is the AI's "cleverness." It will recognize troop buildups, do everything to minimize your ability to win the game (eg, it will surrender its forces to a rival, not to you if you are beating it). Diplomacy was kinda fun, and there is some humor in it.
MP wise, Ive been, for the most part, very disappointed in new games for quite some time. 2007 will be very much like the same prolly.
anyways, games i will look into for 2007 will be UT2k7. Im not putting a lot of hope in it though. Im content now to play my old school games with the veteran OG crews. I gave up on groundbreaking new game that would create new community while ago....
edit: oh and fighting genre wise, maybe vf5 and th new super smash bro game. if thats anything like ssbm, it might be worth looking into. i got pretty good at falco and marth late in that game's peak of popularity....
- Command & Conquer 3 looks like it might be good. I know, it's an RTS (like shockingly many on my list), but I'm an old fan of the series. The FMVs will also have Tricia Helfer and Grace Park.
i like c&c series myself too, but they always end up with some kind of game design flaw that makes playing retarded. and all my friends drop out after getting tired of being beasted all day.
i probably will get it anyway, and make everyone else get it too so we can play a total of maybe 3 weekend until ppl get tired of it.
I can't think of any game besides Spore that can even remotely touch the greatness of Civilization IV.
Big Huge Games has been a Big Huge Disappointment, so there will be no joy from them unless they switch to TBS games.
PS3 and Xbox 360 are offering the same old games with better graphics.
Wii ... no way.
The PC future is increasingly looking dismal. MMORPGs, which will never interest me, are all the flavour. A Fallout MMORPG does kind of appeal, but the thought of having to join others in missions to achieve really good stuff turns my stomach. People bore me, so why would I want to violate my recreation by spending time with them?
If only Firaxis would pursue work on a TBS intergalactic space game to rival Spore, which although promising, will just be The Sims in space.
