  • Lastly might I add: the clues (whatever we think about them), were supposed to be self contained within the story. That is in theory we could discover who were the mafia by examination of known back ground material.

That idea may have gone out the window. Shame.

      • Tacc, or whatever you call yourself today, the point is that Mafia isn't supposed to be a game of "knowledge", or "googling skill". It is a game of social cues and reasoning. You are supposed to find out whodunit by reading how people post, and by using logic and reasoning skills on the posts of the story.

That makes the game much more interesting, because logic and reasoning are much more... universal, and don't require special knowledge to use. It makes the game much more balanced; and it also makes the clues "better" because you don't have the chance of one of them falling victim to someone happening to know something about what you're writing (like the log cabin). You don't want the clues to be adequate, at least not a single one or two, to catch the Mafia - if they are, then the game ends too quickly.

            • We play enough mafia games here that there's room for all kinds. The variety keeps it interesting.

The Best clues are those that when the mafia reads them he/she goes crap, I'm toast and then still wins.

One game I won had weasels/ferrets as a clue along with references to the hero in "a tale of two cities" that was a twin. along with quite a few other obvious ones. But they were slipped in to the story, or were so obvious that no one would buy them.

So anyone that takes the effort to moderate a game deserves to be thanked and critisisms kept to a minimum. (not eliminated, just minimized )
Since we can always make something better.

              • I certainly dont have any issues with how Tacc GMed this game. IT was simply my lack of knowledge of "Log Cabins" and "Tubes Mormonism" that led to me not seeing the clues for what they were.

In the end this game ended with a Villager win, due to sheerluck.

I odnt like the fact that many mafias end this way, i would prefer that people asctually looked for clues and found them then discover the identity of the mafia, Too many Docpiles and Counter Docpiles.

But all in all it passes the time so well done to Tacc.

                • He did say I was a Utah communist, which pretty much describes a Mormon.

                  ACK!
