Sid's first games were wargames circa 1984 and civ was a '91 title

Any self-respecting Civer should now that!
I did but had no way of knowing you did.

        • Firstly the vague and generic clue...

Early 90s and released on Amiga, IBM PC, Atari ST, Apple IIGS along with Apple Macintosh.

I'd probably call it an RPG for the lack of it fitting neatly into any other category.

            • No - although I did think about that one on the basis it was the first ever Amiga game I bought.

                • No.

                  Clue 2:

A familiar story in 5 chapters.

And for me personally my main memory is the really long loading times on the amiga version.

                    • Sounds like Betrayal at Krondor
which is based on the Midkemia Saga of Raymond E. Feist
(the game actually brought me into reading his books )
Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."
Tamsin (Lost Girl): "He has fallen in battle and I must take him to the Einherjar in Valhalla"

                      • Man, I remember that one. I seem to remember long loading times on me pc. But there was more than 5 chapters.

                        • Still no. So a bit of poetry

"So all day long the noise of battle roll'd
Among the mountains by the winter sea;"

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

                              • Though a more serious answer might be AD&D: Pools of Radiance and its accompanying games. Roughly the right time frame, anyway, and at least 4 chapters (not sure about 5)
