PSX is the original playstation, PS1 is either code also for the original playstation or shorthand for the new (mini) playstatyon (PSOne more commonly). PSX has been used for many years for the PS. I don't know what the X stands for though, although in the time the PSX came out, "X" was a cool thing so perhaps it's just a 'cool' marker?

Cheers - I'd always referred to the original Playstation as the PSOne. Never heard of the phrase PSX
