                    TBS: Civilization 4
                    RPG: Baldur's Gate 2

Action: don't play these much. Maybe Crusader: No Remorse. Would Fallout: Tactics be an action game? If so, then put that one in.
That reminds me, I should go buy BG2.

You should be able to get a pack with both games and the x-packs for mere pennies.

I'll revise my votes. I think it's acceptable to divide mp and sp. As There can be vast differences in quality. And some games really are only designed for mp or sp.

                        SP TBS: Civ4
MP TBS: never did mup mp (other than demo games)- I'll go with Civ4
Classic TBS: X-com (I just feel it deserves mentioning, so I created a genre )
                        SP RPG: Baldur's Gate 2
                        MP RPG: Diablo 2
                        action: Fallout: Tactics
                        SP shooter:
MP shooter: battlefield: Vietnam (though I only played a few hours at my brother's house- never bought it)
Sports: one of the Madden games, but sadly I get bored of these too quick, so I don't buy them anymore

Sim: sims 2 (if only to piss off you know who)

I predict a zillion different genres eventually. Paradox' Games have even their very own "Grand strategy" genre now according to some.

                                RPG: Final Fantasy VI (US3)
                                MRPG: Diablo 2

                                Shooter?: GRAW (Ghost Recon)
                                RTS: STAR WARS REBELLION!!
Racing: So far, the Need for Speed: Most Wanted gane out on the 360 has been the best yet. Test Drive 4 (or 5) for Playstation was fun too, lots of nostalgia. Mario Kart is also a classic (SNES version)
