  • So what PC games are you going to buy?

The last part of another thread that strayed slightly off topic got me thinking - what PC game am i waiting to buy/looking forward too?

I can only think of one at the momment - Spore.

But its not 100% the type of game i would be straining at the leash normaly(the MMO part is not why i'll get it) - its just become an interest due to a general lack of good titles?

So really i'm looking for other peoples suggestions on PC games they know of and are looking forward to. Provide as much info about the game as you like - then the rest of us can better make a judgement on if we will like it or not

[And just because i know we will get some console lovers on here being all superior, I'm having an equaly hard time wanting to buy anything for console also - so dont get too cocky ok? ]

Things seem pretty poor 'good games' wise?

    SPORE!

Actually I thought Spore was going to suck, but I got psyched about it from posts here, then read into a bit myself.

No good RPGs on the horizion, no good FPSs on the horizion(besides Prey which looks to be pretty good), no good strategys.... not a single good looking MMO.......

The PC market looks pretty ####y atm.

The lack of good RPGs really is saddening . NWN2 is going to suck.....

      Spore
      Victoria: Revolutions
      Europa Universalis 3

That's the ones I'm most interested in atm.

You couldn't pay me to play Spore.

I'll be buying Civ4: Warlords x-pack, WoW's Burning Crusade x-pack, and maybe Quake Wars.

Don't see much else until GW chapter 3.

is the Victoria:Revolutions an add on for the game Victoria from paradox? If so i found Victoria a bit too much like work - complex but harder even than the EU games to get into for me.

          EU3 is a good bet i guess.

Civ4+ - yes atleast we will always(i hope!) have Civ

@ WoW + Quake Wars + Guild Wars,

Hmmm i'm not personaly into MMO/MMORPG(whatever they are called) - i get enough on-line nonsense in the elderscrolls forums Still if i was to get one it would be GuildWars as i only have to pay once for the game - the only reason i could have for playing a MMO i think.
I'm waiting for the massive all-included bundle to come out - same for NWN as well

Things do seem pretty poor dont they? Even if console people do post their choices i not aware of anything i'd like from that sphere.

          Is gaming dying?

Oh, of course, the Civ4 XP! How could I forget?

Yes, Victoria: Revolutions is an XP for Pardox's game. The original is a good game, but too MM heavy for me, but it seems that will be altered to a degree with Revolutions. Besides, I can afford using $10(which is the price for this dl buy only XP).

I see I didn't cure you from your delusions

Some titles that comes to mind:

              - EU3 should be fun
              - Bioshock
              - Civ 4 XP
              - Fallout 3
              - The Bioware MMO
              - Bioware's Dragon Age could be good, if it ever gets out
              - Crysis looks amazing
              - Hellgate: London

Oh there is another but I don't know when it is coming out... Dominions 3. Anyone here a Dominions 2 fan?

Fallout 3 will never be released and if it is it will suck because Fallout 1/2 sacraficed graphics for gameplay, which is not the right thing to do now. Fallout 1/2 were amazing because of gameplay.

My next purchase will probably NWN2. The Civ4 XP I will buy, when I need it for compatibility reasons, which hopefully is not soon.

                  What the eff is Spore?

Well if your not an FPS+MMO fan your list looks pretty thin

Dragon Age looks good - but as you say its been a while(all i could find were E3 2004 refrences!)

Fallout3 i think is destined to stink pretty bad with the current brains at Bethesda/Zenimax.

Hellgate is like a 3D Diablo i think?
Crysis+Bioshock do both 'look' amazing - but i find FPS a rather samey experience, it hasn't changed a great deal since the origonal Doom for me sadly.

A few years ago(well maybe a bit more) you could almost have a decent game a month if you wanted, definately bi-monthly.

So is my delusion still a delusion?

We must be able to do better than this - there must be more on the horizon that we are looking for?

Bioshock definately (or for the X360, not sure yet). Mass Effect (similar to Bioshock.. could get for the X360 as well). As for the rest, we'll wait around and see .

I mentioned one FPS and one MMO. Bioshock is a FPS/RPG, its the spiritual successor to System Shock. The same team behind System Shock 2 is making it, IRC. So it should be good.

Fallout3 i think is destined to stink pretty bad with the current brains at Bethesda/Zenimax.
We'll see. Despite the unfortunate fact that you can't play as a linguist or an effeminate gay sailor, most people seem to think that Oblivion is a very good game. Man, I wish I could play it OTOH, Bethesda can't write decent stories/dialogues, so they could screw it up.

That's quite impressive. I'm sort of curious how intense the game will be though. It looks like you could leave your bases on their own while you go on exploring other planets. I'm wondering if that doesn't get a tad bit too repetitive after a while. In the end players like to have some other civs challenging you.

It would be cool to see other spaceships visiting you when you're still in a more primitive evolutionary stage for example.

I remember one of the E3 videos from 2006 showing the player attacking a moon, which turns out to belong to a mighty, spacefaring civilization. A desperate message then came from home planet, begging for help against this civ's massive attack there.
