There's a finance system in the expansion pack, where you can buy and sell weapons and have to outfit your people.

I mean, in between battles. You have to look after arming them and buying weapons and stuff.

            Lord of the Mark,
I play strategic and operational historical games. I do make an exception for Star Wars. I will bust out a tactical game like close combat occasionally.

My suggestions in no order but the ones I have played the most.

Strategic - Spartan by Slitherine, Star Wars Rebellion by Lucas Arts, Operational Art Of War by Talonsoft.

Operational - Highway to the Reich by Matrix Games (highly recommended), Fleet Command by Jane`s (highly recommended with downloadable ver. 18).

Tactical - Close Combat series, Gettysburg and Waterloo series by the master Sid Meier.

All these should run on your machine. Highway to the Reich has the most challenging AI I have ever encountered and Fleet command`s AI is no wimp either.

You have made peace with the evil Wheredehekowi tribe-we demand you tell us if they are a tribe that is playing this scenario.
We also agree not to crush you, if you teach us the tech of warp drive and mental telepathy and give 10 trinkets

It's been a while since I saw a close combat game. I always rather liked those, despite the usual problem that the AI can't attack.

Port Royale, and the 2nd one were pretty good. Don't know the requirments, but they should run on that I think. However if you are a hardcore strategy gamer you might not like it, these games are fairly simple, and once you hit a certian point you basically make money from simply holding the space bar down.

I also liked Tropico, though many have said they didn't like it.

I own the Sid Meiers Civil War collection. Ive played through the first day at Gettysburg, and got kinda overwhelmed with, I think it was the first scen on the second day. I might reload it. Of course it runs on my older PC.

Played a demo of CC once. It was okay.

Current "war-historical" game im playing is Divided Ground, which was the last game in the TS Campaign series (and the least popular, apparently) . TOAW is
on my list, but I think it would work on the old PC too.

You didn't specify what kind of strategy.

There's Patrician 2/3 (#2 should run on your dinosaur) which is playing as a merchant in northern europe during the 14th century (might be 13th).

"Am interested in all strat subgenres - TBS, RTS, citybuilders, sims, etc."

In retrospect perhaps i should have tried a narrowerer thread. I havent followed up on this much, as I now have a bunch of strat games for the new PC. Across several subgenres. I have used it to play Age of Kings (classic RTS) EU2 (paradox strat game) Victoria (ditto) and Divided Ground (turn based historical war game).

                              Sounds interesting.

Sounds like we need a new thread. Of the games you own, which should you play next.
