    Exactly, if you have to kill one boss to win the game...you have a linear game.

    An example of a non-linear game would be if you had to kill 3 out of 6 bosses to win the game.

    I think the best games now are the ones that have a very open ended linearity.

        The real question is, why the hell would you want true nonlinearity in a game. IMO that's a bad thing.

          I guess it depends on your mindset. My favourite games tend to be of the less linear nature, i like the freedom(or the illusion of) to do what i want to in my gaming enviroments, in the order i choose. Its why i tend to play older games as this aspect has pretty much died in the modern gaming world it seems.
          If i want liner i go watch a movie, or read a book............or play a console game

            I like both types of games. Variety is the spice of life.

            I like games such as KOTOR and KOTOR2 which are linear by PC RPG standards. And I also like games such as Morrowind and Oblivion which are not linear.
