I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

      • I regret few of my game purchases. However, a game I never should have bought is Medieval: Total War.

A Final Unity was actually rather good. Elite Force was decent too, if a little short.

          • Sava, Ghost Recon a bad game? I thought so too. I left it on the shelf for a year before I began playing it. Then I realized just how good a game it is (was). Until Vietnam and Far Cry, Ghost Recon was my favorite FPS.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is now out. It is an excellent game as well. Non linear maps. Advanced physics. Excellent AI. Clearly the state of the art in FPS in many respects.

            • There are a long list of games that I regret buying. There are a ton I never played as soon as I found out what they were. For example, I can't stand role-playing or real-time strategy games. But among the very top of the games I hated are

              1. Civilization III; and
              2. Knights of the Old Republic.

              • I got a lot of fun out of civ3. I'm not sure why everyone says it was bad.

Sure it didn't live up to expectations, but it improved on many of civ2's shortcomings (though it introduced a few of its own)

                • Its shortcomings didn't counterbalance its improvements.

                  • I got many hours of play out of it. Play the World was the only disappointment.

And who doesn't enjoy seeing a spearman defeat their tank?

                    • How in the world did anyone dislike Knights of the Old Republic?

I wonder if he ever figured out it was really an RPG?

                        • Oblivion?

i put the question mark because i certainly do regret buying the game as it has been released, but i suspect after 6months or so with some good mods i will probably get back to it.

Still i regret it for the sadness i felt upon playing it

And what can Nikolai have against Medieval Total War? Is it compared to the first games(Shogun?) or the later games like Rome Total War? Its a different beast from EU2, but a game to regret buying out of all the dross that you could mention - i'm confused

                          • MOO3 . . .

And I almost never regret a game purchase. I apparently have a really high tolerance for crap in my games. But after years of MOO2, I got all excited about MOO3, ran out and paid full, new-release price, and played it for about two hours before putting in the cabinet from which it still hasn't returned. It was also the last game I bought anywhere but the cheap rack.

                            • I found out that I didn't like the battle part of the game, and as you know that is the main part. The only part I enjoyed to a degree was the civ manager part, and that one was not very good either. I have tried R:TW and there the civ part was very good, but as I still don't like the battle part I decided not to buy the game.

Civ3 wasn't a bad game. It was not as good as hoped for, but it was NOT a bad game overall. It just needed some help re: c3c

KoTOR, on the other hand, was a GREAT game.

Ned, I think you should try again
