I haven't played most of your list, but I very much enjoyed EU2 and while I bored or it eventually I would highly recommend it Carolus (as I think I have recommended it to you before ).

    Enjoy your holiday!!

Once you'll get a hang of SMAC (same applies to all TBS' on list, really), you're hooked. Expect to spend your whole holiday crushing Miriam and the members of her sisterhood if you pick it...

I hope you aren't thinking that starcraft is really like homeworld. rts in space, yes and no.

Thanks for the warning. Resemblance or not, I must admit that Starcraft MP with my collegue is very tempting and that would require some training first...

I think I'll skip the TBS games for now... Their attraction will lure me into, erh, regrettable behaviour...

Thief is also interesting... I had a great time playing Deus Ex in stealth mode...

EU2 is good. No reason to play the original after playing the sequel though...they are the same game pretty much, just the second vastly improves over the first.

Planescape: Torment, Fallout and Fallout II would all be good choices though they are getting dating.

Morrowind might be something fun to look at though. The next in the series is coming out in mid-2006 too.

Starcraft is very fun. A bit primitive as rts's go these days, but I still say there is not too much that is more fun in the rts world than having a platoon of powered up Marines splatter a boatload of zerglings all over the terrain... supported with mega blasting siege tanks in siege mode...mmmm

add the stimpack (an upgrade that makes the marines go firing at twice(?) the speed) and well, there you have it.

I still consider starcraft the best speed rts

                    and possibly the best rts

                        You can't go wrong with

                        SMAC
                        Half-Life
                        System Shock 2
                        NOLF
                        NOLF2

If you're looking to be scared, SS2 is the way to go. For more traditional, classic FPS, HL. If you want to bring the funny along with a terrific gaming experience, the NOLF series can't be beat. And, of course, SMAC is the absolute pinnacle of TBS gaming... or was, until Civ4 came out.
