Chapter Three: The Past is Present
Some time passed beofore Rah managed to get control of the people in the stdium again. Perhaps, Rah thought, we can resolve this ourslves. Against the calls of the rest Rah decided to not call the police, but to solve the crime. Chaunks death, whilst horrble in itself, was notihng compared to the trial that followed. Everyone was called one by one to present their story to the jury or there peers. Deliberations were held and all had one vote to give eachg to decide the fate of the guilty. Chaunk would have been rolling in his grave to see these atrocity. Once everyone had spoken a ballot box was set up in Rahs office under neath the stadium. When all had voted Rah and Illumiatus went and counted the votes. But as the votes were counted, colour slowly left Illumanitus face as he realised that things were looking bad for him. Once the tally was in Rah announced the result and Illuminatus was decreed the guilty one and was thrown from the top of the stadium into the carpark below. Yes the problem was fixed.
With the problem solved everyone returned to the stage area to hear the rest of Rah's speech. Only one hour had elspased since the killing of Chaunk.
Rah cleared his throat again and began " Ladies and gentleman, before we were rudely interrupted...." but once again the lights and al lpower went out. More commotion was heard and more screaming from in front of the stage.
Ten minutes alter the power was back on. Rah looked anxiousl yinto the crowd and did a head count. All apeared ok, he looked behind him and all the dignataries were there.
"Well I think that time it was just a glitch" Rah said.
But then from down by the power control box came same yelling, "Hes' dead ,, hes dead!!!" Reismark ran to the stage screaming. "Civman2000 is dead"
Everyone ran back there and looked. MrsTuberski did her usual examination and announced " I have no idea how he died!"
Ljube also looked around as he tried to write up a report for the morning paper. He discoverd in a cabinet near the electrical switches some paperwork. He perused it all and announced " it is just a list of names ... Civman2000, Nikolai, Tuberski and Geomodder. Why would he put a list of those names hmmmmm" and also this note ...
