It was indeed a joke. I think Joncha got it, so it couldn't have been that obscure.
Essentially the plan was for Nikolai to sub for the Duke of York (character), who was dead already.

Well, in theory, you could add Nikolai as the 20th player now, reselect the Mafia and start the game over, but that's not really subbing.Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!Comment
