  • Duke I have one fleet with 2 light fighters and 4 cargo ships. I also have 5 fleets and capability thereof. I should have cruisers by tomorrow. Lv 4 impulse is a lot o crystal....err and time!

    Impulse Engine (Level 3 )
    The impulse engine system relies on the principle of particle repulsion. The repulsed matter thereby actually is waste generated by the fusion reactor used to generate the necessary energy for this kind of propulsion engine.
    Requires: Metal:16.000 Crystal:32.000 Deuterium:4.800 Energy:0
    Production time: 6h 51m 25s

    Note, that is the upgrade price. damn, and I've got everything else that I need.

          I donated another 2000 cyrs and about 15K metal (so far), 1.5K duet. The donated metal is surplus and the crystal has already been earned back many times over.

          To further clarify. A new colony starts with 500 metal 500 crystal. Note carefully:
          Any resources loaded onto the colony ship ARE LOST. Do not load up the colony ship. (I didn't learn this the hard way I read it on the forums).

          So I used a small freighter to shuttle loads and loads of metal and a bit of the other resources.

            • Did someone post a compilation of the costs for each upgrade in terms of metal/crystal/deut? I'm working on a spreadsheet to plan development, it's somewhat primitive right now, but that information would help me quite a bit.

              • 500/500 is what your home planet started with (colonies also have the inante 20/10 production), so basically without any assistance from the home planet a colony will take as long to develop. What I found is that about 2000 crystal is enough to build solars and crystal mine to the point where the colony is basically self sustaining in crystal production, but because the metal mines are neglected it's nessecary to ship heaps of metal (about 30K so far). I figure I can make up the metal later by stealing it from the nubbies, there's some lightly defended planets nearby with big metal stockpiles.

                I'm not sure if I should research cruisers before starting to seriously fleece the nubbies. Since I'll be fairly crystal rich I could afford some heavy fighters and would probably take low losses, heavies are meant to be pretty good against cruisers too since the claim of fame for cruisers is rapidfire vs missile launchers/light fighters.

                • Here is a copy of my spreadsheet. Its useful for the early game when raiding is not an option.
                  There is a forumla thread on their forums for other information, like costs per level of building and such.

                  • Thanks SB, my excel knowlege is limited, but what I'm trying to do is throw together something that lets you paste in your current resource situation (done) and then choose buildings and/or techs to upgrade, it will then show you how long it will take and what resource situation you'll be in at the end. Great for predicting bottlenecks.

                    I really need to ramp deuterium production.

                    • Wow, that's much better than my own half-arsed attempt to make a spreadsheet, SB. Thanks for posting it. Thanks to it, I've been able to plan out infrastructure development on Ecbatana up until Fusion Plants become available.

                      Editing further: I'm planning on going with Fusion Plants instead of solar satellites. Ecbatana is far enough out (12, max temp 13 C) that solar satellites would be pretty much worthless, and Ecbatana would get a boost to Deuterium production anyways. Granted, it's several weeks off anyways, but it's always nice to have a plan.

                      • I'll upload what I have tomorrow, I'm not entirely satisfied with it, I'd like to implement a lookup table where you can select a tech/improvement and level and it'll tell you what it costs.

                        Unfortunately, I don't know quite enough about excel to implement something like that.

                        On the other hand, I did set things up such that you can just select all and paste the output from the resources screen and it automatically parses it for your stockpile and income.

                        I'll try and get it up some time tomorrow afternoon with some basic instructions.

                            Im saving my deut, research is getting expensive and thats my limiting factor at the moment,

                            the big metel hauls from attacking let me buy the more expensive structures quicker

                              • it allows you to send out more than one fleet at a a time, so with comp 1 I can now attack 2 targets at once
