  • When there is a dispute over a forum game, generally the GM decides, or a plurality of the players decides. You, sir, are neither.

I make no claims to being in charge ... if anyone, Joncha and DrSpike are.

What dispute? Is my guess valid or not? If it is not valid, then show me which rule invalidates it. If it is valid, leave the floor.

              • Sadly, Ljube is right. If Duke's post shows as edited it shouldn't count. I say sadly, because clearly once again it's abusing the letter of the law to gain an advantage, which, as regular posters will know, I dislike. Any rule is to stop people editing their guess after another guess, and Duke's edit was fast and not prompted by later guesses........but that's not the rule.

Overall, if Ljube insists it's his point and word. However, were he to pass the point and/or floor to Duke I doubt anyone would complain in this instance, and I would in fact applaud.

                • Then I renounce my point as stated before and have no objection to that point being claimed by Duke of York. Furthermore I would like to pass the floor to Duke of York.

                  • /me applauds.

Sounds like the floor is yours Duke.

Joncha is right - rule 5 needs to be tightened for any cases where agreement cannot be reached.

                    • I have no objection.

                      • I too feel Duke should have the point and word.

                        • DoY having the floor is fine by me. However, clearly he should not get a point for it.

I think we should 'tighten' all of the rules with...

                          12. Any invalid guess of a word, should that word be correct, shall invalidate that game of Hangman, and the floor returns to the setter. A point may be subtracted from the invalid guesser should it be determined that the guesser guessed maliciously.

I don't really like that last sentence, but this clearly could be used maliciously ... I'd hope nobody here would do that, but ...

                          • The rules are fairly clear that he shouldn't have the point. On the other hand, the rules currently would dictate that ljube got the point fairly.

I would say that he should give up the point, but I certainly won't make a hissy fit about it. Play on.

                            • Yes, according to the strict letter of the rules, my shameless steal was a valid guess for which I should be rewarded a point. However, that point was never the reason for my posting that guess. It was my disagreement with out of game solutions being devised by reverend players when the situation was completely covered by the rules that prompted me to exploit the rules so manifestly, but never for my gain - it was for the gain of us all and for the benefit of the game.

                              • Duke setting the next word is fine by me, awarding a point (to anyone) is not. I recall having to give up the point in a similar situation in the past...
