It's not explicitly in the rules (guesses cannot be changed is not exactly the same as posts cannot be edited), but it's a big no-no. Well I voted C and Coccyx in the same post, but then realised that unless C was correct, then that would be all the lives used up, so just posted the word. It wasn't a case of letter then word, which would be questionable, but both together - you can guess the word at any time, right.

The problem duke is that it was edited ... that's a no-no in hangman, as we have no way of knowing what you edited it from.

C and Coccyx would have broken rule 7, meaning only your C guess would have been counted. Changing C to Coccyx breaks rule 5.

Coccyx is correct.
If we consider ljube's guess the valid one, but don't award him a point, then he has an opportunity to win points with his next word, which is not particularly fair since his guess wasn't exactly an original one. On the other hand, I would possibly get "free points" from getting to set a new word.
